Royal Family News: Disgraced Prince Andrew Is “Put Out To Pasture”

Prince AndrewBritish royal family news reveals that disgraced Prince Andrew has been formally disassociated from the UK monarchy. Yesterday the palace issued a terse two sentence statement, breathtaking in its brevity, that left no room for error–Andrew is persona non grata. Hours later Prince Charles solidified Andrew’s invisibility when he completely ignored a reporter’s shouted question about the man once known as “Randy Andy.”

But will this latter day cutting off of the man now embroiled in a shocking sexual assault scandal be enough to save the monarchy’s image?

Royal Family News – Andrew Is Persona Non Grata

The Queen’s second son, long rumored to be her favorite child, has been stripped of his royal titles and can no longer refer to himself as His Royal Highness. As such he joins an elite club consisting of royal has-beens: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Buckingham Palace made the stunning announcement Thursday, one day after a US federal judge in New York rejected Andrew’s request to have a civil suit against him thrown out. This means that Andrew must face the prospect of a sexual assault case brought against him proceeding this fall.

The plaintiff Virginia Giuffre’s lawyer stated: “I think it’s very important to Virginia Giuffre that this matter be resolved in a way that vindicates her and vindicates the other victims. I don’t think she has a firm view as to exactly what a solution should be,” David Boies told the BBC. “But I think what’s going to be important is that this resolution vindicates her and vindicates the claim she has made.”

Prince Charles Just Ignored Prince Andrew

A source in Andrew’s camp told CNN Thursday that, “Given the robustness with which Judge Kaplan greeted our arguments, we are unsurprised by the ruling. However, it was not a judgement on the merits of Ms Giuffre’s allegations.”

“This is a marathon not a sprint and the Duke will continue to defend himself against these claims,” the source added.

What does Andrew’s banishment mean for him personally? According to CNN, he will no longer receive public funds but he is now free, just like his compadres Meghan and Harry, to work in the private sector.

The Queen has been criticized for what was perceived to be a slow response in cutting off the man who has arguably tarnished her reputation via his association with convicted sex offenders Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.

Does her latest, extremely decisive declaration do enough to contain any future damage Andrew could have brought? CNN reports that, “Legal experts say the Queen has responded authoritatively, acting promptly instead of waiting for any verdict should the case reach the trial stage. She only retains the crown by virtue of parliamentary support and that, in turn, relies on public support.”

Nick Goldstone, head of an international dispute resolution law firm thinks that the palace’s action is, “probably enough,” as, “it certainly appears to have brought the Duke of York’s public life as a royal to an end for the foreseeable future.”

“Essentially, he’s been put out to pasture, and he’s been reduced in status to the same status as Prince Harry.” And if that isn’t damning evidence enough that Andrew has been put in his place, then nothing is.
