Royal Family News – Fans Go Wild Over New Photo Of King Charles’ Kilt-clad Equerry

Royal Family news reveals that the Instagram Account of King Charles III was updated Wednesday with a new snap of His Majesty greeting the new Prime Minister Liz Truss at Buckingham Palace. But it was Charles’ equerry that got royal fans excited. Read on and we’ll give you the low down.

Royal Family News – Who’s That Fine Species?

Royal Family news reveals that, in the photo, fans can see kilt-clad Major Johnny Thompson of the 5th Battalion Royal regiment of Scotland standing next to the door smiling. Many who saw the shot took to comments to share their excitement over the sight.

One fan commented, “Everybody here for Major Johnny Thompson on the side of the pic,” and another wrote, “Who is looking at Liz when I see the guard standing in the background.”

A third fan was a bit more overt about their excitement asking, “Who’s that fine species on the right please?” A fourth commenter wrote, simply, “Major J. Thompson. Always a pleasure to see him.”

A Familiar Sight Among Royals

Major Thompson, no stranger to the fanfare, first went viral following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. During that period the Major was often pictured alongside the King as he traveled around the country during his mourning period.

Being a member of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, Thompson has been a steady presence around the Royal Family. In fact, the Major has reportedly worked for the Queen for many years.

Too Bad, So Sad – Major Thompson is Married

In Thompson’s role as equerry, he’s responsible for the planning and execution of the King’s daily programs. These duties also include looking after carriages, coaches, and Rolls-Royces used for state ceremonies such as Trooping the Colour as well as the opening of Parliament.

Major Thompson was born in Morpeth, Northumberland in Northeast England and now lives in Surrey with his family. He’s very spoken for girls! So, you’ll just have to dream about him. He married his wife, Caroline in 2010 and they have one four-year-old boy together.

Before serving in the Army, Thompson graduated from Aberystwyth University with a degree in economics and politics with international studies. The Major’s LinkedIn profile says that he was a member of the undergraduate officer training corps while in university.
