Royal Family News: Government Buildings Banned From Flying the Flag On Prince Andrew’s Birthday

Royal Family News: Government Buildings Banned From Flying the Flag On Andrew’s BirthdayBritish royal family news shows that the hits keep on coming for disgraced Prince Andrew. After reportedly being forced to withdraw his presence from the Order of the Garter Ceremony last week comes new that he has had yet another honor taken away from him.

What is that honor? He will never again have the Union Flag fly in his honor in the UK.

Royal Family News – Andrew Stripped of Another Honor

Yesterday it was revealed that he, and some other royals, “had been effectively barred from having the flag adorn government buildings for his birthday after the Queen and Prince Charles became the only royals to keep the privilege.”

According to the Daily Mail, it appears that the flag flying days for this year were amended 2022 on February 11. The change also affects senior royals William, Kate, Anne, Edward, Camilla and Sophie of the privilege. It is thought that 96-year-old Queen Elizabeth made the decision, with The Sun reporting that it was another move to, “save Andrew from embarrassment.”

Royal Family News – Andrew Is An Embarrassment?

Prior to Andrew’s birthday earlier in the year, several councils allegedly, “said they would not obey a rule to fly it for Andrew on his birthday because of the disgraced Duke of York’s association with pedophile Jeffrey Epstein and his lawsuit with Virginia Roberts which he settled for £12million.”

Four days prior to Andrew’s birthday in February the Queen’s second eldest son paid an out-of-court settlement with his sexual assault accuser Virginia Giuffre. A month prior to that, the queen took away his military patronages and he gave up his HRH style.

Royal Family News – Andrew Will Not Have The Flag Flown On His Birthday

Every year the government announces the days in which the flag will fly over government buildings. In 2022 the rules were changed so that only Queen Elizabeth and her successor and eldest son Prince Charles will have flags flown on their birthdays.

Back in 2020, on the occasion of Andrew’s 60th birthday, “councils were sent notes by the private secretary to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government permanent secretary reminding them to fly the flag in his honor,” sparking controversy.

Other days that have been removed from mandatory flag flying include the late Duke of Edinburgh’s birthday on June 10, and the Queen and Philip’s wedding anniversary on November 20.
