Inside sources told People magazine that her latest health scare is happening at a most inopportune time, what with the scandals of Prince Harry and Prince Andrew, as well the happy stress of celebrating her Platinum Jubilee in June.
Royal Family News – Queen Elizabeth Has COVID
The 95-year-old monarch’s Platinum Jubilee celebrates 70 years on the throne. This should be a joyous time for her but already 2022 is off to tricky start. Last week her son Prince Andrew made headlines after agreeing to an out of court settlement with his sexual assault accuser. Days later an investigation was launched into her son (and direct heir) Prince Charles’ charity due to an alleged cash-for-honors scheme. And Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been darkening the skies above the family for the last two years.
Royal Family News – Will The Queen Celebrate In June?
A palace insider told People, “It’s a drip-feed of negativity for the monarchy. I’ve not known such a tumultuous time as this.”
“It just feels to be one thing after another for the Queen. It’s going to take a toll.” Just one of the rocky situations the queen is facing would be tiresome but in addition to certain family members wreaking havoc in her personal life, she is treading the road alone following the death of her husband, Prince Philip, in April.
The Platinum Jubilee Is Scheduled For June
The insider said, “There’s a difference between being alone and being lonely.” The palace has said that her Covid symptoms are mild but the source said, “Whatever the symptoms, when you’re feeling below par, having to deal with the other problems is really hard.”
Nonetheless the queen always shows her mettle and this time is no different according to the insider who noted that the Queen, “is stoical and mentally strong.”
“Her main concern will be to get back to be in fighting form to start the Jubilee celebrations,” says the insider. “She’s of the generation where you ‘suck it up.’ It is duty first.”
