British royal family news shows that satellite pictures reveal the incredible scale of mourners lining up for miles to see the late Queen Elizabeth. She is laying in state at Westminster Hall and mourners are standing for hours in the cold just for a chance to say a final goodbye to the only monarch most have known.
The line opened last week and will remain open 24 hours a day until Monday morning when her funeral will take place. At times the line has been shut down due to waiting times of over 24 hours.
Royal Family News – The Queen Will Be Buried Monday
Satellite pictures have captured the enormous line of human beings along the River Thames. They are waiting to see Queen Elizabeth II, who died last Thursday at the age of 96. “Images posted on Twitter by Maxar Technologies, a space technology company based in Colorado, show the enormous queue from above.”
According to the Daily Mail, the line, or queue as it is called, “has closed multiple times, including for ‘at least six hours’ from 10am yesterday, causing anger as people had travelled overnight and from all over the country to join.”
Royal Family News – The Queen Was Immensely Popular
It is likely that a cutoff point, when no new people will be allowed to join, will be enacted at around midnight on Sunday. The official lying-in-state period at Westminster Hall ends at 6:30am local time on Monday.
Royal Family News – The Queen Will Be Buried Next To Her Husband
At this time mourners entering Westminster Hall form two lines on either side of the coffin in order to maximize the numbers inside. Among the famous faces was David Beckham, who reportedly waited 13 hours to say goodbye to the queen. “David Beckham wiped his eye while waiting to see the Queen’s coffin at Westminster Hall in London yesterday afternoon – after waiting since 2am.”
MPs were allowed to cut in front of others in line and could bring four guests. Among those visiting were Business Secretary Jacob Rees-Mogg and Shadow Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner. Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby were also in line, albeit a separate queue for press members. Queen Elizabeth’s eldest son Charles was her heir and is now King Charles III.
