Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall began her career as an assistant at an interior design firm called Colefax and Fowler. What happened to that career path? “She worked for us for a moment but got the sack,” Imogen Taylor, a former colleague, told The Sunday Times. Apparently Camilla had the nerve to come in late one day. The nerve.
Taylor said their “short-fused boss, Tom Parr,” wielded the axe. “The Duchess of Cornwall was one assistant who fell victim to one of [his] tantrums… I think she came in late having been to a dance.”

Before meeting Sarah Ferguson married Prince Andrew, she is reported to have, “cleaned toilets, amongst various other jobs.”
She’s come a ways since then and now has authored books including the Budgie The Little Helicopter series. While she and Andrew still live together after their divorce and she is, “technically still a member of the British royal family … she has to make her own way.”

When the late Princess Diana met Prince Charles she was 18 and working as a nursery school teacher’s assistant. At the time she said of her job at Young England School in Pimlico, “Because I adore children, that’s really why. It just seemed to appeal to me.” She also worked as a nanny, house cleaner and a dance instructor.

Today Princess Eugenie works at London art gallery Hauser & Wirth too. The brand new first time mom told Harper’s Bazaar that her job as Associate Director has her, “planning special projects” and “supporting the artists in the gallery and managing events.”
Her sister Princess Beatrice once worked as a personal shopper at Selfridges in London.

In 2006, 24-year-old Kate Middleton worked for the fashion chain Jigsaw. She held a job as an accessories buyer and left in 2009 to work for Party Pieces, a party planning venture owned by her parents Carole and Michael Middleton.
