Royal Family News: How The Royals Made Money Off Of Meghan Markle And Prince Harry’s Departure

British royal family news shows that The Firm is now determined to give away the money they have saved since Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry stepped down as senior members. The monarchy has been down two worker bees with their departure and apparently have saved a few pennies as a result.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry left the Royal Family fold in March 2020, eventually settling in California with their son. Since then they have scored lucrative deals with Netflix and Spotify.

Republic CEO Graham Smith told Express.co.uk that the money saved by the pair’s defection decision will not go back to the UK taxpayer instead the money will be given to other members of the monarchy. Republic advocates for the monarchy to be abolished.

He said, “Ultimately, it does not make any difference to the UK taxpayer because the cost of the monarchy continues to go up every year. Money not spent on Meghan and Harry will be spent on others. It is a good thing in the sense that the fewer royals there are the better.”

He went on to say, “But ultimately, the money will be spent on other royals rather than Harry and Meghan. The core cost of the monarchy is 74p per person per year excluding security. The much-needed refurbishment of Buckingham Palace brings the cost up to £1.24.”

“Given the effects of the pandemic it was announced that though there would be less income, any shortfall is intended be met by economies and other income such as lettings and not by the taxpayer.”

Even though the monarchy has been criticized as outdated and bloated, especially by Republic, there are certain factions that adore the institution and would fight for its continuance if it came to that.

Some claim that Republic conveniently ignores the monarchy’s contribution to charity and tourism.

Fitzwilliams added, “How could you put a price on the boost to the nation’s morale of the three historic broadcasts, including her Christmas message, which the Queen has made during the pandemic?” Her Majesty’s broadcasts were lauded around the world as showing that the crown still retains relevance as she uplifted the nation during a dark time.
