British royal family news reveals that Kate Middleton, currently the Princess of Wales made a big impression on palace staff when she hit the scene. How so? Not the way Meghan Markle did, allegedly alienating and bullying staff. Rather, Kate, “wasn’t like other members of the royal family,” but in a good way.
Former butler Grant Harrold claims that Kate Middleton made a strong impression by joking and chatting with staff members of the royal household.
He told the mirror, “What I liked was that Kate, being a girlfriend and obviously not a member of the family, would be with me and the other staff and she was so polite, friendly, and fun and making jokes.” In contrast, the palace was forced to open an official investigation into claims that newbie Meghan “bullied” staff. Not cool.

The butler was a fly on the wall to several intimate family moments. Grant was on duty when William and Kate were still a young couple, and had just graduated St. Andrews University where they met. He recalls that the young lovebirds were, “just like any other couple.”
Grant was also on board when Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2007. After the Queen passed on September 8, he spoke to Australian radio hosts Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald and Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli the next day.

Grant hails from Airdrie, Scotland, and was employed at Highgrove from 2005 and 2011. He discussed his time among Her Majesty, who he called Mrs. Windsor.
During the interview he shared that as a youngster he asked his father how to dance with the Queen, after watching a documentary about the royal family.
His father replied, “you either marry into the family or you work for them. And I quite seriously thought “who could I marry?”
“And realized that that obviously maybe wasn’t a clever move. But then I wrote to the Queen, I wrote two letters to her. I even sent a picture so she knew what I look like and basically said one day I will come to work for you.” He was almost correct as he became a butler for her son.

At one point Harrold found himself in the ballroom at Balmoral with Camilla. “We were dancing, and the Duchess said, “oh, Grant, you look quite nervous. You look quite scared.”
“And I said ‘that’s because of this dream that I had when I was young. I said I think I’m going to dance with the Queen tonight’ and she said, “there’s 150 people in this room. It’s highly unlikely the Queen would dance with you.”
“I turned around and saw the queen. She put her hands up to dance and, and then we’re into Rio.” He added that it was an “amazing” experience.
