Royal Family news reveals that the video, shared by TikToker, royalfancams, has been viewed more than 130,000 times in just two days and has received over 6,000 likes. According to Newsweek, many commenters remarked on the courage and ease with which the Duchess of Cambridge handled the very large spider.

The clip was originally recorded during Prince Harry and Kate Middleton’s visit to the Ulster University Magee Campus in Londonderry, Northern Ireland on September 29, 2021. It was the couple’s first time visiting that part of Northern Ireland, according to Town and Country Magazine.

While on their tour the Cambridges met with representatives of local petting zoo Kidz Farm. They brought along a collection of animals the organization uses to help educate children on the care and conservation of wildlife.

Prince William Surprised At Kate’s Courage?

Prior to the Duke of Cambridge’s holding of a snake, viewers are treated to Kate Middleton asking one of the attendants if she could “please” hold the tarantula. William visibly got a shock out of the request before encouraging, “go on then!”

Then the Duchess waited as the attendant removed the formidable spider from its cage and gently coaxed it onto her waiting hands. But that was in the short viral clip. There was more to the story.

Spider Name Same As Princess

Later on, when William asked about the spider’s name, he was informed by the attendant that the spider’s name was linked to the future King’s own three children; Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4.

“Believe it or not she’s called Charlotte,” in a subtle nod to the E.B. White children’s book, Charlotte’s Web. Kate’s response was simply, “Oh, is it? Well, there you go!” Royal fans may recall that the duchess first revealed her affection for arachnids in an Instagram message to wildlife conservationist David Attenborough, in 2020.

Cambridge Children Speak to David Attenborough

In the special message, we see the Cambridge Children speaking publicly for the first time. The clip was then shared on the Cambridge’s official Instagram account.

In the video, an adorable Charlotte says to the camera, “Hello David Attenborough, I like spiders. Do you like spiders too?” The wildlife conservationist icon responds that he loves spiders, adding, “I’m so glad you like them.

“I think they’re wonderful things. Why is it that people are so frightened of them? I think it’s because they’ve actually got eight legs—which are much more than us—and if you’ve got eight legs you can move in any direction so you can never be quite sure which way that spider could go.”
