Royal Family News: Kate Middleton Is Indebted To Prince Charles For This

British royal family news teases that Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton may have her father-in-law Prince Charles to thank for her marriage to Prince William (and the Queen Consort title that comes along with it). The two met while studying at St. Andrews in Scotland but in his first year there William talked about dropping out and transferring to Edinburgh instead.

Let’s get in the hot tub time machine: If Duke of Cambridge William had dropped out he would not have met his future wife, Kate Middleton, and she would never have been brought to tears at testy Meghan Markle’s wedding to Prince Harry and well, would Megxit have even happened? It boggles the mind.

Royal Watcher Robert Lacey Has Considered The Possibilities Of William’s Decision To Stay At St. Andrews

Thankfully we don’t have to contemplate how different the future would be because according to royal biographer Robert Lacey, Prince Charles stepped up to the plate and influenced his son to stay put.  In the end, William and Kate did meet and the rest is history.

Lacey has written the latest bombshell book about the royals titled Battle of Brothers: William and Harry – The Inside Story of a Family in Tumult. Unlike the previous bombshell book Finding Freedom, this book was written by a royal watcher with tons of cred and he has never claimed to be one of the royal’s soul mates.

So, why was William displeased with the beautiful and renowned campus of St. Andrews? Lacey spills that William nearly dropped out because he was bored. He, “had not anticipated quite how ‘boring’ — his word — life in a small Scottish seaside town could be.” Life away from the castle chaos would be dreary indeed.

British Royal Family News: Prince William Almost Didn’t Meet Kate Middleton In College

William told his dad about the idea to transfer to Edinburgh during Christmas break. Then, one of Charles’ aides apparently told the dad to, “demonstrate more fatherly backbone” and tell his son to stick it out at St. Andrews. Charles took the advice and William stayed put.

Years later The Mirror quoted William as saying, “I don’t think I was homesick, I was more daunted. My father was very understanding about it and realized I had the same problem he probably had. We chatted a lot, and in the end, we both realized—I definitely realized—that I had to come back.”
