Royal Family News: Kate Middleton’s Strange Left Handed Habit Revealed

Royal Family News: Kate Middleton Has A Left Handed Habit That Is Stirring GossipBritish royal family news shows that Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton is many things: a mother of three, the future queen consort and a legit fashion plate. Which is why curious minds want to know, why does she carry her purse in her left hand when she is actually right-handed?

The Royals Hold Bags In This Hand

Middleton is a rightie, but photogs mostly capture her with her purse in her left hand—what gives? Adding to the intrigue, the late Princess Diana did the same and Kate’s FIL Prince Charles usually carries his briefcase in his left hand. Myka Meier is an etiquette expert who was trained by a former member of Queen Elizabeth’s household, and she is spilling all the beans about this protocol!

According to her, “all members of the royal family should hold bags in their left hands, from clutches, to handbags, to briefcases. When entering a room or event, handbags or briefcases are held in the LEFT hand so that your right hand stays open to meet, greet and shake hands! Prince Charles does this too!”

There Are A Lot Of Royal Rules

Well that makes all the sense in the world. Suggest.com notes that Meier ticked several more rules and regulations that the royals follow, including the way they should hold their heads. Yes, you read that correctly.

According to Meier, the royals, “are always expected to hold their chins parallel to the ground. Hold your chin too high and you might look haughty; hold it too low, and people might think you lack confidence. Markle was accused of breaking this rule many times during her tenure as a working royal.” Oh my.

What Are The Royal Rules?

Meier adds that there are also food and drink rules to worry about. Like what? We’re glad you asked! For one thing, “there are rules on how to stir a cup of tea, how to rest a knife and fork on your plate, and even how to sit.”

Meier stated that the royals are not supposed to use chair armrests because they make one look like they are slouching. Also, female members of the royal family should cross their legs at the ankles or the knees and slanted to the side, with hands resting in the lap. Do you think you could cut it as a royal?
