Royal Family News: King Charles Allegedly Spun Smear Campaigns About Princess Diana’s Mental State

British royal family news reveals that Netflix just dropped the latest season of The Crown, leading to a war of words about how the Royal Family is being presented. It is a fictionalized history of the monarchy and many think the latest installment treats Princess Diana and King Charles especially cruelly.

But the Crown is not the only controversy the family must contend with. Patrick Jephson was Diana’s press secretary from 1988 to 1996 and he told the podcast The Scandal Mongers, “that sources close to the King orchestrated a ‘systematic’ smear campaign against his estranged wife.”

The hosts, Phil Craig and Andrew Lownie, were astounded—lets take a deeper diving into this scandalous situation surrounding Diana, who died aged 36 on August 31, 1997.

He went on to say that Charles, “was frustrated by the fact it has now become ‘accepted’ that Diana struggled mentally, and said she in fact showcased ‘extraordinary strength’ under the pressure of royal life and media attention.”

Author Phil Craig, who wrote Diana: Story of a Princess, concurred with Jephson claiming that the briefings greatly affected the King’s first wife, and were nothing less than the “nastiest” aspect of the War of the Wales’.

Jephson declared that Charles’ alleged campaign of “disinformation” was systematic and not just sporadic gossip. About this matter, Page Six reported that he was “very frustrated” that the rhetoric by that Diana was “a bit crazy” had “become the official line.” Maybe Charles wanted to control the narrative?

He further added, “Considering the life she lived, considering the pressures she was under, she wasn’t just sane, she had a kind of ability to restore sanity to crazy situations.

But Diana was not just a victim apparently, she, “was aware that her ex-husband’s camp effort to discredit her in the press, and would use it to her advantage.”

A third commentator, Phil Craig has said that thinks the alleged briefings were the “nastiest part” of the royal marriage. He believes that Diana was jaded by the King’s infidelities and thinks it is “appropriate to say that Prince Charles’ gaslit Diana.”
