Royal Family News: King Charles Reverses Course

British royal family news shows that there has been a major reversal in King Charles plans for a slimmed-down monarchy. According to inside sources, he will not decrease the number of working royals, the group will remain at 11.
Critics had speculated that the 73-year-old monarch would streamline the list of working royals, but this does not seem to be the case.

Royal Family News – Some Things Change

King Charles will also continue to pay taxes, as did his late mother Queen Elizabeth. As the Prince of Wales, Charles paid £5.8million in income tax after receiving £23million from the Duchy of Cornwall estate in 2021. The news about the senior royals comes on the heels of the Palace announcing a scaled back Coronation which received criticism in some quarters. Some royal experts sniffed that Charles was turning the grand event into a budget friendly party with less pomp and circumstance.

Royal Family News – Some Things Stay The Same

Royal experts think that if the number of working royals is cut back, the number of official engagements, in the number of 3,500, will be decreased. In turn, “Aides are discussing what will happen to charities which attract thousands of pounds through royal representation and visits.”

A senior royal insider told the Daily Express, “These are things that are all being looked at as part of a wider review at the moment.”

The defection of Harry and Meghan and the decimation of Prince Andrew have dented the monarchy’s ability to keep pace with its public responsibilities.
