Royal Family News: Lady Susan Hussey Snags An Invite To King Charles’ Coronation

Controversy? What controversy? It looks like there’s nothing to see here as British Royal Family News says that Lady Susan Hussey has snagged an invite to King Charles’ coronation in May. Yes, we are talking about the same Lady Hussey who demanded to know where a Black charity owner “really came from” during a conference at Buckingham Palace back in November. Here’s what you need to know.

One source close to the situation put it this way, “Lady Susan received private support from friends during the aftermath of what happened. Some politely canvassed the suggestion Lady Susan should be made welcome at the coronation. It was pointed out the many years of service and duty she gave the Queen, to whom she was a loyal confidante. With relations now smoothed over between Buckingham Palace and Ms Fulani, the King is now able to extend an invitation to Lady Susan.”

Lady Susan Hussey, who is also Prince William’s godmother, stepped down from her role as Queen Camilla’s Lady in Waiting after she made a racist comment to a person of color during a major reception to raise awareness of violence against women.

A prominent black advocate for survivors of domestic abuse, Ngozi Fulani, says that she felt violated during her conversation with Lady Susan. Apparently, she was repeatedly asked where she “really came from,” by Prince William’s Godmother. This, despite the fact that Fulani was born and raised in Britain.

Fulani said she felt challenged by Lady Susan when she repeatedly asked her: “No, what part of Africa are you from?”

She detailed the full conversation, which she said happened ten minutes after she arrived, on Twitter, which included the exchange: “Where are you from?’

“Me: ‘Here, UK’. ‘No, but what nationality are you?’ Me: ‘I am born here and am British.’ ‘No, but where do you really come from, where do your people come from?’ Me: ”My people’, lady, what is this?’

“Oh, I can see I am going to have a challenge getting you to say where you’re from.”

Fulani, who founded Sistah Space in 2015, added, “Mixed feelings about yesterday’s visit to Buckingham Palace. 10 mins after arriving, a member of staff … approached me, moved my hair to see my name badge. The conversation below took place. The rest of the event is a blur.”
