Royal Family News: Love Affair With Monarchy Exiting Its Honeymoon Phase

British royal family news shows that the monarchy has been in the news recently for all the wrong reasons. Is it true that there’s no such thing as bad publicity? No doubt the royals would love to believe that, but given the headlines being generated about them, it would seem an incredibly outrageous pill to swallow.

There was a time when the world seemed to view the royals as gilded incarnations of better beings. Then along came Harry and Meghan. And now Prince Andrew’s scandal is back on the front page. Despite The Crown portraying the family in a harsh light, the public remained fascinated by them. And in the beginning the public marveled over the Markle Sparkle. Has all that changed with a few severely misguided calculations on the part of the real-life royals?

For one thing, Prince Andrew just had a serious lawsuit brought against him. In August Virginia Roberts Giuffre sued him in federal court over sexual assault allegations.

Royal Family News – Prince Andrew Is Being Sued

Giuffre alleges that when she was 17 she met Andrew (who was 41) via currently jailed Ghislaine Maxwell and dead convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Maxwell is awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges in the same New York prison where Epstein supposedly committed suicide in 2019.

For ten years Giuffre has maintained that she was trafficked by Epstein and Maxwell and by extension sexually assaulted by the prince three times in 2001. Prince Andrew denies the accusations despite a widely circulated picture of him with his arm around Giuffre’s bare waist.

Royal Family News – Meghan And Harry Have Trashed His Family

For the past year Harry and Meghan have trash talked the monarchy and in March they dropped a bizarre and salacious interview in which they told Oprah Winfrey how mistreated they were while living pampered lives at the palace.

According to Meghan she was held a virtual prisoner and according to Harry his father left him penniless. Copious evidence to the contrary quickly emerged to refute these claims and other equally outlandish assertions have since been disproved.

Have Andrew, Meghan and Harry soiled the once rosy picture held of the royals by the rest of the world? Perhaps it’s too early to tell, but with the pending lawsuit against Andrew due to be heard next year, as well as the 2022 publication of Harry’s memoir, the monarchy may have seen better days in many people’s eyes.
