British royal family news shows that the next candidate for queen consort, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, has an exciting new gig to look forward to. Prince Charles’ wife turns 75 in July and as a celebration of her milestone birthday she will guest edit that month’s issue of Country Life.

Royal Family News – Camilla Duchess Of Cornwall Has An Exciting Opportunity

According to a press release issued by the magazine, it will be a special edition issue and, “will reflect The Duchess’s love of horses and dogs — she has two rescue Jack Russell terriers, Bluebell and Beth, and is patron of Battersea Cats and Dogs’ Home. The Duchess will reveal her champions of the countryside, her most cherished view and favourite recipe.”

Additionally, “The edition will also focus on the work of The Duchess as patron of over 90 charities, from Barnardo’s to The Royal School of Needlework and The Royal Society of Literature.”

Camilla is already well-known to at least one staff member, her son Tom Parker Bowles! He is the magazine’s food writer. He said of his mother’s upcoming gig, “As a columnist for Country Life, I’m delighted my mother will be guest-editing a special issue. But rather hoping she won’t try to muck about with my copy.”

Royal Family News – Will Camilla Edit Her Son’s Work?

Camilla is not the first royal to be asked to perform guest editing duties. Her husband Prince Charles has done so twice, the first time to mark his 65th birthday in November 2013. He proved such a popular choice that he was asked back a second time, on the occasion of his 70th birthday in 2018. More recently, Princess Anne was asked to guest edit the magazine in 2020 to commemorate her 70th birthday.

Camilla and Prince Charles spent Christmas with his mother Queen Elizabeth at Windsor Castle. The entire family usually gathers at the monarch’s Sandringham estate for the holiday. Camilla has yet another honor to look forward to, this one bestowed upon her by the Queen. On New Year’s Eve Her Majesty announced that Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, would become a Royal Lady of the Order of the Garter. This is the most senior order of knighthood in the British honors system and experts believe it paves the way for her to take the title of queen consort.
