Royal Family News: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry See Themselves As Next Barack and Michelle Obama

British royal family news shows that Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry are the talk of the town as they continue to craft what one assumes to be their version of a media empire. Royal expert Katie Nicholl told 9Honey that she thinks the couple’s Spotify and Netflix deals are only the beginning of their reach for the stars in their effort to be like the stars.

According to Nicholl, they are, “emulating the Obamas’ successful business model and will move on to creating a book next,” which should have Queen Elizabeth quaking in her boots.

Are the Markle’s planning a tell-all book all about the royal family?

In what is a fishy coincidence, Barack and Michelle Obama also announced a Netflix deal with their company Higher Ground Productions and soon after, a Spotify podcast. Of course fleeing the UK with no professional experience to speak of other than royal hand waving isn’t exactly on par with leaving the White House after serving two terms.

But according to Nicholl, “The Obamas’ Higher Ground [production company] was always going to be the business model for the Sussexes and that’s exactly what we’re seeing.”

“They are just emulating in each step of what they’re doing and that is because the Obamas’ model has worked. It sits very much with the image that the Sussexes are trying to curate for themselves.”

Nicholl thinks that since the Obamas and the Markle’s have known each other for years there’s been, “some mentoring and possible guidance along the way.”

The two pairs also share the same agency for their speaking engagements, The Harry Walker Agency.

The Markle’s see themselves as the next Barack and Michelle Obama?

Does Nicholl think Prince Harry and Meghan have a tell-all book waiting to spring on the public? Nope.

“It’s important to remember they are still bound by that pledge to the royal family, to uphold the values of the monarchy, to remain respectful of the monarchy whether or not they are working members of the institution.”

But she does think that Meghan will try to write self-help books.

Very soon the pair will drop their debut podcast on Spotify, a “holiday special” guaranteed to, “uplift audiences around the world.”

In addition the Sussexes’ have a £100million partnership with Netflix and Meghan made the announcement that she personally has invested in a $28-per-pack oat-milk ‘superlatte’ business. No word on if it, too, will uplift the world.
