Royal Family News: Meghan Markle Claims Driven to Suicide by Racist Royals in Oprah Winfrey Interview

Royal Family News: Meghan Markle Claims Driven to Suicide by Racist Royals in Oprah Winfrey InterviewBritish royal family news reveals that the bombshell interview Meghan Markle and Prince Harry gave to Oprah Winfrey on Sunday night did not disappoint: among other jaw droppers, Meghan revealed that living at the palace made her suicidal, and the royals voiced concerns over how dark her son Archie’s skin might be.

The interview kicked off with images of the 2018 Fairytale Wedding of Meghan Markle to Prince Harry and it soon descended into a dark retelling of the flip side, Meghan’s side, of the fairytale.

But first she shared her point of view on being given everything and more on her wedding day by saying she felt cheated: “I think we both knew in advance this wasn’t our day. This was the day that was planned for the world.”

Keep that point of view in mind as you read some of her more incendiary claims below, accusations made by a woman who once made her living as an actress.

Royal Family News: Meghan Markle Didn’t Enjoy Palace Life

Meghan came to clear some things up, and immediately pointed her manicured finger at none other than her royal rival, Kate Middleton.

Remember that infamous wedding anecdote in which she was said to have made sweet Kate Middleton cry, apparently about a flower girl’s dress? Nope, according to Meghan, it was the other way around.

This story has been told a thousand times in a 100 different languages with a million witnesses and yet here is Meghan insisting to Oprah that it was Catherine who actually made her cry on her wedding day.

“A few days before the wedding she was upset about something … and it made me cry and it really hurt my feelings,” Meghan says of her soon-to-be sister-in-law.

“What was hard to get over was being blamed for something not only I didn’t do, but happened to me.”

Kindly Oprah leads her guest by asking why the palace didn’t fix the narrative. Meghan says, “it’s a good question.”

The even better question is why didn’t Meghan, who has compared herself to She-Ra Power Princess, defender of the downtrodden, stander-upper to bullies, didn’t say something in her own defense?

Royal Family News: Why Didn’t Meghan Defend Herself?

Savvy Meghan then makes it a point to say that the Queen always made her feel welcome. But what about the rest of them, Oprah prods?

She responds by saying, “So often people in the firm would say ‘you can’t do this because it would look like that’,” Meghan says.

Example? Meghan complains that she wasn’t allowed to go out for lunch with her friends and was stuck inside Kensington Palace. As a hostage? At gunpoint?

“There was very little that I was allowed to do so of course that breeds loneliness.” Yes you heard that right, incredibly tone deaf Meghan just said she was “stuck” inside one of the most beautiful, luxurious and well-appointed properties on earth where staff tended to her every whim and she was treated like a, well like a princess—how absolutely awful!

Meghan goes on to call the Royal Family liars. Straight up. “They were willing to lie … but not to protect me and my husband … It was only when things really started to worsen that I realized I wasn’t being protected but they were willing to lie to protect other members of the family but not me and my husband.”

Meghan claims the palace wasn’t going to give her son Archie security protection because he would not be given the title of prince. “They were saying they didn’t want him to be a prince, which would be different to protocol, and that he wasn’t going to receive security. This went on for the last few months of our pregnancy.”
“How does that work?” Oprah prodded. Meghan replied, “Our son needs to be safe.”

Royal Family News: Meghan Claims to Value Her Voice

Oprah smoothly switches gears to bring up the fact that Meghan was the first mixed-race woman to marry into the royal family, plus an American, an actress and a divorcee.

Meghan replies, “I’ve always worked. I’ve always valued independence. I’ve always been outspoken, especially about women’s rights. I have advocated so long for women to use their voice and then I was silent.”
Were you silent or silenced, Oprah asks? “The latter.”

Many will be shocked at the next bombshell Meghan drops: the royal family expressed concerns about how dark Archie’s skin would be.

Oprah asks, “Why do you think Archie wasn’t made a prince? Was it race?”

“In those months when I was pregnant all around the same time, we had in tandem the conversation he wouldn’t be given security, wouldn’t be given a title and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born.”

Oprah is simply gobsmacked and gasps, “What? Who told you that?”

Meghan goes on to say that there were conversations with Harry about how dark Archie’s skin would be and what that would mean.

While Meghan is playing it coy, dancing around the subject, Oprah, god love her, asks if this meant if her child would be “too brown” and that would be a problem?

Meghan blurted out, “If that is the assumption you are making, that is a pretty safe one.”

Who would say such a thing? Meghan cannot bring herself to point fingers this time and demurely says, “it would be very damaging” to reveal who expressed those concerns.

Royal Family News: Meghan Markle Considered Suicide

So how bad did it get for Meghan in the palace? This is a shocker: Meghan says she contemplated suicide and told Harry. “If I knew that if I didn’t say it, that I would do it. I just didn’t want to be alive any more.”

Next she claims that she went to, “one of the most senior people,” in the royal household to get help but was told it would be a bad look. “I share this because there are so many people who are afraid of getting help.”

Here’s where the story really gets interesting: She says she went to the HR department and needed help. “They said there is nothing we can do for you, because you are not a paid member of the institution.”

“I just didn’t want to be alive any more … it was very real and frightening and a constant.” Next Meghan turned to one of Princess Diana’s best friends for help.

“It takes some much courage to admit that you need help,” Meghan says. “To admit how dark of a place you’re in. I was weeping.”

She next elaborates that she didn’t want to go to an activity but was too frightened to be left alone given the state of her mental health. So she went and smiled but, “every time the lights went down in the royal box I was weeping.”

Royal Family News: Meghan Markle Drops All the Tea

And then Harry himself is trotted out and allowed to sit on the couch with the adults. What comes next after all of Meghan’s shocking disclosures?

They’re having a girl, y’all!

Then comes the sticky wicket about their security or lack of it. To hear them spin it, they moved to California from Canada because their British-government supplied security was to be withdrawn.

Why, Oprah innocently asks?

“Their justification was a change in status. To which I pushed back and said ‘was there a change in threat and risk?’”

What part does Harry not get? They were the ones who changed their status, gleefully, and unofficial members of the royal family aren’t entitled to security, which is paid for by the taxpayer.

Then Oprah asks if Harry “blindsided” the Queen with Megxit, as has been widely reported. He employed the same evasive answering style as his wife by saying they asked for help before making the decision, but didn’t get it. Total obfuscation, well played Harry, well played!

Royal Family News: Prince Harry Drops All the Tea

Not to be outdone in the bombshell dropping department, Harry lobbed a few of his own. He threw his father Prince Charles under the bus by saying he stopped taking Harry’s calls, and he also said the UK media used race as a factor in their coverage of Meghan. He even claimed that, “I am acutely aware of where my family stands and how afraid they are of [the press] turning against them.”

Later Meghan pleads her case by telling a rapt Oprah, “I left my career, my life … because I love him.”

For his part hostage Harry offered up this bit of insight: “I was trapped and I didn’t know I was trapped. My father and my brother, they are trapped.” And it wasn’t until he met Meghan that he knew this.

Among other insights he justifies his deal making with Netflix and Spotify because, “My family cut me off in the first half of 2020, but I got what my mum left me.” Apparently he doesn’t see the irony in living off his family as a grown man with a family of his own.

Royal Family News: Prince Harry Does Not Want to Talk About Race But He Does

Next Oprah circles back to ask Harry about Archie’s skin tone. He says, “I’m not comfortable in sharing that.” And yet it keeps coming up.

And how about his relationship with his brother, Prince William? “The relationship is space at the moment,” he says. “And time heals all things, hopefully.”

Of one thing he is certain. When Oprah asks rather tactlessly if Meghan saved him, he says, “Yeah, definitely.”
Meghan begs to differ saying, “I think he saved all of us, he ultimately called it. He certainly made a decision that saved my life, and saved all of us.”

But it’s Oprah who has the last word, promising even more revelations from the interview in the coming days.
Stay tuned folks, As The Firm Turns is the hottest soap opera going and will be for the next few months.

I have family and friends thankfully of many race and cultures and I don't appreciate anyone making veiled accusations of racism. If these things did happen they must be confirmed, established and proven who actually did and said such things. Unsubstantiated accusations are very harmful and damaging to people who live everyday lives in mixed race families and communities. Implying and unsupported allegations are not going to help anyone get along and they are certainly not going to support and help people who are trying to work towards a life where race and colour are not an issue. People's colour and cultures are a wonderful part of life's rich tapestry. It makes me angry when people set cultural progress back. If Megan and Harrys statements of race are true then they should own them with facts. As for Archie, was he not given security because his parents chose for him to be untitled, same situation as Ann's children and therefore nothing to do with colour? As for security when stepping down and moving to Canada why should the UK or Canadians pay for security of non working Royals? I don't think many believe Canada was the genuine destination in Harry and Megan's plans. They are fools if they think they haven't hurt the Queen with all this, a small " The Queen supported us" isn't going to cover it, this is her household, her family and her nation, she is head of it and therefore ultimately responsible, so Harry you have just badly hurt your 90+ grandmother.

Bravo….very well said, indeed!!! Harry has made a real mess of things and hurt his Grandmother.

I don't know if Harry and Megan are foolish or if they just don't care who or what they use in their family squabbles and quest for more power and control. And over what money and lack now of opportunity for pageantry. They are not helping us, people who are genuinely trying to make a better world, a world where someone's colour is just something that makes them more interesting. These allegations and accusations will just set people back flaring up suspicion and resentment, for what their personal ambitions. Intelligent people would realize using race to service personal grudges is no better than a racist using someone's colour to abuse them. Two fools who have the money to set themselves up as would be leaders is a dangerous thing for our society as we have just witnessed. It's not progress, the people are just being used for Harry and Megan's agendas. It is very disturbing.

  4. Guest says

Yes, it is indeed very disturbing. I wonder that Me-again is always so quick to trot out the racism card. In fact, I am thinking about the comment that was supposed to have been made about Archie's colour……it is a comment that could have been taken entirely out of context and not racist at all. Thinking about a few mixed race, expectant young couples who, in casual conversation, talked about being curious and looking forward to seeing what colour their baby's skin would be……I know one couple who wondered if their child's skin would be light, like the father or darker like the mother…..their was no racism intended…..the parents, and friends were speaking in a loving and kind manner…and when you think about it, in today's world, it is more common now and so people might ask that question. So, the comment that was made from "someone" among the senior royals, may not have been meant to be mean, or racist at all. (just sayin')!!!

Myself and my husband had that exact same conversation. It's only natural for families who are excited for the expectant new arrival to wonder what colour hair or eyes, and of course with parents of two different colours perhaps what colour skin, it's not necessarily meant nastily. Like you say, any excited family member might have said something taken out of context. And it was something which should have been addressed on the spot and cleared up. Not something that should have been left 2 years! It feels like they just went through a list of the past two years events to see what they could use as spite publically against their family. They have no concern or consideration for what impact racial comments might have mixed families and communities. In my single days I used to go about with a group of girls both black and white. One day my friends was doing her hair and explained she had to pull her hair back because some people of colour have low hair lines. Another told me she had to get her hair permed and then repermed to get a nice curl, we probably talked about my struggles with freckles and sunburn, we were just a group of young people curious and fascinated with our individual differences, it was never something hateful. I hate to think these sort of relationships can be made to be something to fear because of spiteful comments used as weapons in a self-serving interview about a family dispute which should be a private matter between Harry and his family.
