British royal family news reveals that yesterday a judge announced his decision over part of the case Meghan Markle brought against the publisher of the Mail on Sunday. She won a summary judgement in regard to the misuse of private information and copyright infringement.

But Justice Warby ruled that in regard to the issue of who owns the copyright, that could be tested at trial.

His judgement says: “The claimant had a reasonable expectation that the contents of the Letter would remain private. The Mail Articles interfered with that reasonable expectation.”

Royal Family News – Meghan Markle Won Round One?

The conclusion reads: “There will be summary judgment for the claimant on the claim for misuse of private information, and on the issues I have identified in the claim for copyright infringement. A hearing or hearings will need to be fixed for the determination of the remaining issues in the copyright claim and for the determination of what remedies should be granted.”

After hearing the news Meghan ripped into the defendant saying she was, “grateful to the courts for holding Associated Newspapers and The Mail on Sunday to account for their illegal and dehumanizing practices.”

“These tactics (and those of their sister publications MailOnline and the Daily Mail) are not new; in fact, they’ve been going on for far too long without consequence. For these outlets, it’s a game. For me and so many others, it’s real life, real relationships, and very real sadness. “

Meghan concluded in her charitable way, always thinking of others, “I share this victory with each of you—because we all deserve justice and truth, and we all deserve better.”

“We all” is her frequent way of including everyone on earth in her battles big and small, and triumphs whatever those may be. But what if “we all” wish to remain private, as she does; do we have the right to sue her?

For instance, on behalf of everyone in the world apparently, she made sure to say in her Christmas card that she was donating to charity for basically everyone alive at that point in time.

Royal Family News – Meghan Markle Makes Many Assumptions

In October 2019 Meghan announced she was suing the publishers of the Mail on Sunday after it published parts of her letter to her father Thomas Markle.

In response to the recent judgement a spokesperson for Associated Newspapers Ltd said, “We are very surprised by today’s summary judgment and disappointed at being denied the chance to have all the evidence heard and tested in open court at a full trial. We are carefully considering the judgment’s contents and will decide in due course whether to lodge an appeal.”
