Royal Family News: Meghan Markle Was Furious At Being A Lower Ranked Royal

British royal family news shows that Meghan and Harry have been roasted and toasted in Tina Brown’s latest book “The Palace Papers.” The former Vanity Fair editor takes a long look at the royal family but it is the royal runaways who come away the most sullied. Brown spoke to 120 sources, and what they had to say about the striving B-lister and the royal spare is enlightening and nauseating all at once.

Royal Family News – Tina Brown’s New Book Is Astonishing

According to Brown, “Meghan Markle saw marrying Prince Harry as a way to realize her ambition to become the next Angelina Jolie — a glamorous star whose side gig as a UN goodwill ambassador allows her to travel the world, ‘in her halo, talking about hunger and refugees.’”

It hasn’t quite worked out that way, not for a lack of trying on Meghan’s part. Whereas Angelina has a modicum of talent, Meghan was a cable show actress. Whereas Angelina was born to Hollywood royalty, Meghan was forced to live above a garage and eat at Sizzler.

As the Mercury News notes, “In hindsight, it’s easy to see why Meghan’s royal experiment failed so spectacularly. As Brown explains in interviews to promote the book, there is plenty of blame to go around. Brown also writes that Meghan and Harry’s part in their vexatious exit from royal life in 2020 has left both, but Meghan especially, in a precarious position.”

When Megs and H ditched the royal family for “financial freedom” they entered a zone where they had no cache, no validity as the so-called Duke and Duchess of Sussex. As Brown notes, both have failed to forge a brand other than, “an addiction to drama.”

In an interview Brown told podcast host Joanna Coles, “I think they both completely underestimated what it was going to be like to be without the — you know — the palace platform. Meghan doesn’t really have a brand you get a sense that there’s a certain amount of flailing there.”

Brown’s cred is impeccable: she’s the former editor of The Tatler, Vanity Fair, the New Yorker and the Daily Beast. She also wrote a best-seller book about Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana. According to Brown, Harry and Meghan’s egos couldn’t handle being second bananas to Prince William and Kate Middleton. Now look at them—chicken rescuers.

Brown wondered to Coles, “how much Harry prepared Meghan for the fact that she wasn’t going to become fabulously rich as a lower-ranked royal.” While the Markle’s ran away from the palace for “financial freedom” Meghan now seems to be, “grasping at … whatever is the kind of Twitter caring of the moment … it’s vaccinations, it’s Ukraine, it’s women’s rights, it’s hey, my 40th birthday, let’s have a mentoring scheme. Nothing is really going anywhere for Meghan.” And so Megxit became, “a disaster all around,” and it’s hard to argue with that assessment.
