Royal Family News: Meghan Markle’s Book Shows Prince Harry In A Tutu

British royal family news reveals that not everyone thinks Meghan Markle deserves a Pulitzer Prize for the kid’s book she was accused of plagiarizing. The Telegraph give her effort one out of five stars, and more gentle critics have called it “boring.”

According to the Telegraph Meghan’s new children’s book “The Bench,” is just “semi-literate.” And according to the Daily Mail, “a number of critics have panned the book for its non-traditional messaging, questionable grammar and tone deaf rhythm.”

Sounds like Meghan Thee Duchess should stick to writing calligraphy letters.

When it was pointed out that Markle’s book resembles (an awful lot) an already published kid’s book she claimed that her version was inspired by a poem she wrote for Husband Harry.

Not everyone took to the tome, with The Telegraph’s Claire Allfree questioning the very existence of the book. Other critics have called it a vanity project, something that would have never got past the proofreaders let alone published if Meghan hadn’t reportedly written it.

Royal Family News – Harry Is A Hit In A Tutu

As Allfree notes, a red-head paternal figure is apparently Harry, playing with their son while the damsel Markle watches from inside a house: “Looking out at My Love and our beautiful boy. And here in the window I’ll have tears of great joy.”

Allfree wrote, “Poor Harry’s role in this marriage is to sit on his bench holding the baby while Meghan gets on and conquers the world, one act of compassion at a time.”

Markle told NPR that the book rips up traditional depictions of masculinity and diversity. Of the illustrations she said, “I wanted him to just try something a little bit new and work in watercolor,” Markle said.

“And that was specifically because I just felt that when you talk about masculinity and you talk about fatherhood, it can often not come across with the same softness that I was really after for this book. And I just wanted this to feel almost ethereal and light and Christian was able to use that medium and create the most beautiful images.”

Royal Family News – The Bench Is Not Popular

Allfree notes: “One wonders how any publisher could have thought to publish this grammar-defying set of badly rhyming cod homilies, let alone think any child anywhere would want to read it,” she wrote. “But that’s planet Sussex for you, where even the business of raising a family is all about the brand.”

The Sunday Times arts editor Alex O’Connell echoed this comment: “It reads as if it has been penned as a self-help manual for needy parents rather than as a story to entertain small kids. It lacks the crucial ingredients for a successful tale for this age group: a good story and basic rhythm.”

Spoiler alert: you may want to buy a Big Mac instead.

No kid wants to read about a bench. Dinosaurs and superheroes yes, a piece of wood no.
