Royal Family News – Meghan Is Suing A Media Outlet
Meghan is suing the Mail on Sunday and MailOnline for publishing parts of a letter she wrote to her dad. She stated this was private correspondence and included the subject of her dad having a heart attack and being unable to attend her wedding.
Today the publisher told the Court of Appeal in London that new evidence shows the privacy case is based on a “false” premise.
Andrew Caldecott is the lawyer for the defendant (ANL) and he stated new evidence from raises questions about Meghan’s “credibility.” He claims that Meghan’s letter, “was written with public consumption in mind as a possibility.” To be perfectly clear, let’s translate the legalese into plainspeak: Meghan allegedly wrote the letter with the purpose of leaking its contents.

The lawyer further articulated this point saying that the letter was a long way off from being, “an intimate communication for her father’s eyes only,” and Meghan assumed Thomas Markle, “might disclose it to the media.”
The ANL stated that Thomas Markle had the right to reveal the contents of the letter in order to defend himself and, “correct some inaccuracies,” contained in a People magazine article. That article contained leaks from Meghan’s friends, and it’s been argued that the leaks were meant to slam Thomas and show Meghan as the aggrieved party in their relationship.
The People-gate matter, “featured an interview with five friends of Meghan who spoke in detail about the same note,” according to the Daily Mail.

Caldecott added, “The claimant’s letter and the People article both make allegations against Mr. Markle of cruelly cold-shouldering the claimant in the pre-wedding period… The article, or its gist, was reported worldwide.”
“We say there was a difference between what Mr. Markle said and what he was presented as saying.” In other words, a classic case of he said, she said.
