British royal family news reveals that for now Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are ensconced in a little mansion in Montecito, California.

There have been rumors the pair want out however, with nearby Hope Ranch and Malibu reportedly on their list. Not surprisingly, once this news broke, tons of residents in those areas begged the trashtastic pair to stay far, far away (NIMBY).

Montecito is a natural spot for celebs since it’s close enough to LA for anyone working in showbiz while retaining a casual but rustic ambiance.

The lists of celebs who reside there include Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres, Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom.

What is the secluded town really like? According to She Knows, New York Times writer Amy Larocca pointed out that the city is full of one percenters.

Larocca was given a tour of Montecito by real estate agent Ashley McGowan, a true local, with her family living in the town for three generations.

According to the outlet “the town has been decadent yet somehow low key for years.” The New York Times reports that the median house price is $6.75 million and “about two-thirds of the population votes Democrat.”]

Royal Family News: Montecito Is Low Key Decadent

And, in the case of age demographics, “the town swings a little on the geriatric side.” One of those elders recently came forward to say that the Markles snubbed him when he tried to welcome them to the community.

The former military vet reported that he came to the McMansion with a video he had made about the area’s history. But he was in for a rude surprise when he was turned away at the Markle gate. According to the elderly neighbor, the security guard refused to take the gift and informed him that the tacky twosome would “not be interested” in his gift. Rude.

Right now it makes sense that the Markles would want to network with their neighbors all they can. They were just dropped from Spotify and rumors of personal turmoil and professional disasters are piling up.

In June a Spotify exec labeled them “expletive grifters” and no one at the streamer corrected him. Here’s to hoping that Meghan and Harry figure things out, like manners and talent, before it’s too late to save their brand, whatever that is.

Unfortunately many experts, and some neighbors, have already put a fork in them.
