Zwelivelile ‘Mandla’ Mandela expressed surprise that in a The Cut magazine interview Meghan implied that her marriage to Prince Harry was as significant as, “Madiba’s historic walk to freedom,” after he was imprisoned for decades.
Mandla said of his grandfather: “Madiba’s celebration was based on overcoming 350 years of colonialism with 60 years of a brutal apartheid regime in South Africa. So It cannot be equated to as the same.” Oh, but in Meghan’s world, it can and is.
Royal Family News – Meghan Is A Martyr?
Mandla said of Meghan, “Every day there are people who want to be Nelson Mandela, either comparing themselves with him or wanting to emulate him,” according to the Daily Mail.
“But before people can regard themselves as Nelson Mandelas, they should be looking into the work that he did and be able to be champions and advocates of the work that he himself championed.”
Royal Family News – Is Meghan Going Back To Acting?
Social media reacted much the same to the 6,000-word plus article pompously titled, Meghan of Montecito. In it the former game show girl told of an encounter she had at the 2019 London premiere of The Lion King.
“She said an actor from South Africa pulled her aside and told her: ‘I just need you to know: When you married into this family, we rejoiced in the streets the same we did when Mandela was freed from prison.” Of course that actor has no name, so no way to verify the tale.
“But MailOnline has learned that the story has astonished the Mandela family … (Mandela) served 27 years in prison before being released and re-uniting opponents and going on to lead his country.” Is that the same as marrying a prince then ditching the tiara and spending two years trashing her in-laws? Meghan thinks so. Mandla, not so much.
Royal Family News – What Is Meghan Even Thinking?
Mandla said of Harry and Meghan’s opulent, taxpayer funded wedding: “when the people of South Africa expressed their joy at his grandfather’s release and danced in the streets, it was for a far more important and serious reason than her marriage ‘to a white prince.’” Of course, it’s just his opinion.
