Royal Family News: Netflix Cancels Meghan Markle, Sends Her Show To The Dumpster

British royal family news reveals that Netflix has canceled Meghan Markle more than two years after she signed a contract. Meghan has never produce a single item for the streamer and her proposed animated series, Pearl, has been unceremoniously dropped before it could get off the ground.

Two years is a long time to wait for an employee to roll up their sleeves, could Harry be the next on the Netflix chopping block?

Royal Family News – Meghan Markle Cancelled

Deadline reported on Sunday that ‘Pearl’ is officially canceled. It was to be developed by Meghan, through Archewell Productions, but was still in the development stage.

Royal Family News – Meghan Markle Did Not Show Up

Netflix cut two other children’s shows Dino Daycare, which was created by Jeff King, and the South Asian-inspired adventure Boons and Curses. Unlike Meghan’s failed project, both of these shows were in production. According to ET Online, “Sources familiar with the cancellations told Deadline that Netflix had warned producers to move projects still in development to elsewhere. It is unclear if they offered Archewell Productions similar advice.”

In September 2020, Netflix agreed to give Harry and Meghan the Duke and Duchess of Sussex a reported $100 million dollar deal. They have done nothing in return, “But the company has pinned hopes that their upcoming series documenting the recent Invictus Games will prove value for the money.”

Royal Family News – Meghan And Harry Have Done Nothing

In July Markle boasted that she would produce ‘Pearl’ as the, “creator and executive producer.” Apparently she never got to work on the show, and she has zero experience as an EP. It was announced that her the husband of her husband’s friend, David Furnish, be the show’s executive producer.

What was Markle’s DOA show to be about? Pundits predicted it was—wait for it—all about her. “While few details had been released about the series, many believed the show was based – at least in part – on Markle’s own childhood, citing how she named the show and its title character Pearl, the origin meaning of her name.”

Harry recently made the Invictus Games all about him, using a camera crew to film his movements thus hijacking the spotlight from the athletes. Will it be his breakthrough project or will it suffer the same fate as ‘Pearl?’
