Royal Family News: New Andrew Morton Book Addresses Tiara-Gate, Royal Peccadillos

British royal family news reveals that Andrew Morton has a rare insight into the monarchy. He wrote the authoritative book on the late Princess Diana, Diana: Her True Story, and has often provided key information about what the royal family is like out of the limelight.

He recently spoke about her younger son Prince Harry’s bombshell memoir. It is due out in January and he has chosen to title it with one word: Spare. That incendiary word, referring to Harry’s gripe about not being the heir, is causing emotional quakes on both sides of the Atlantic. According to Morton, the good news is that Harry might “move on” once the book is published, if only because, “You can only go on for so long blaming your dad.”

He went on to say, “I think Harry has a valid argument to say his father made comments about his mother, and he made also made comments about his own parents and his view of them [in the Jonathan Dimbleby book].”

Royal Family News – Harry Has Valid Points

Morton’s new book is titled The Queen. It addresses the bombshell exit of Harry and his wife Meghan from the royal family while exploring Queen Elizabeth’s historic 70 year reign. How compelling is his latest book?

Morton says, “I think that an early clue for me was that when I looked at her childhood, I found she rarely played with other children. She was very solitary. She was very diffident. She let her sister start the conversations, and she prayed every night for her mother to give birth to a son so that she wouldn’t have to be queen. She had very few friends outside the immediate family.”

Morton writes about one of the queen’s few friends, her dresser, Angela Kelly. Kelly was known by the family and household as AK47.

Of Angela, Morton describes her as a gatekeeper. “Every senior figure needs a gatekeeper, and they have great power. Angela was a very tough docker’s daughter from Liverpool. Angela knew what was going on and could feed the queen that information. She had good gossip; and in the years that I’ve covered the family, one of the things that I have found interesting is that the royals like gossip, just like the rest of us.”

As such Kelly was one of a few people to stand up to audacious Meghan and Harry. “Harry knew about Angela Kelly’s power and didn’t particularly like her. The row over the tiara was a power struggle”

Her refers to Meghan demanding a certain tiara for her wedding and being rebuffed. This led hot head Harry to allegedly yell, “What Meghan wants, Meghan gets.”

Who won this egotistical battle? “It was a score draw.”
