Royal Family News: Paddington Bears Left For Queen Elizabeth Find Forever Homes Through Kid’s CharityBritish royal family news shows that Queen Elizabeth made a lasting impression on millions of Paddington Bear lovers when she filmed a video with the adorable pixie for her Platinum Jubilee in June.

During the short, which was kept secret even from her family until the day of viewing, Her Majesty and Paddington had tea as well as more than a few hilarious mishaps. It endeared her to a whole new generation and now hundreds of Paddingtons have been left for her in tribute after her September 8 passing.

Royal Family News – Paddington Bear Was a Friend of the Queen

Yesterday it was announced by Buckingham Palace that over 1,000 bears have been collected after they were left for the queen outside of her residences in London and Windsor. What will happen to the adorable stuffies? They will all find good forever homes as they will be donated to charity.

And, to mark the announcement, the palace released a photograph of Queen Camilla in the Morning Room at Clarence House, surrounded by a large collection of bears.

The picture was taken last Thursday, which just so happened to be the 64th anniversary of the of the first Paddington bear book.

Following Queen Elizabeth’s death on September 8, there were two official tributes areas set up in The Green Park and Hyde Park. Additionally, well-wishers left tributes at Buckingham and Windsor Castle. All of the bears collected from these sites will be distributed to happy children who will now have a Paddington of their own to cherish.

Royal Family News – Lots of Paddington Bears For Kiddos

Tom Jarvis, Director of Parks at The Royal Parks charity, said in a statemen: “Over the last few weeks, we have been looking for a fitting and appropriate use for the hundreds of teddy bears that were left in The Green Park and Hyde Park to honour The Queen. We are delighted that the teddy bears will now bring joy and comfort to hundreds of children supported by Barnardo’s,” a charity which had the queen as a past patron.

According to the palace, the bears are currently being “well looked after” at Buckingham Palace, Clarence House, and in the Royal Parks nursery prior to their distribution. All of the bears will receive a scrubbing and then be given to Barnado’s in the coming weeks.

Royal Family News – Paddington Bears Find New Homes

Barnardo’s Chief Executive Lynn Perry MBE stated, “Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was Barnardo’s Patron for over 30 years, and we are honoured to be able to give homes to the teddies that people left in her memory. We promise to look after these bears who will be well-loved and bring joy to the children we support.”
