The year was 1995 and she sat for an explosive and infamous BBC interview with Martin Bashir. He is now accused of using fraud and trickery to obtain the interview but it must be remembered that the destructive words that came out of Diana’s mouth were of her own volition.
UK Royal Family: Princess Diana’s 1995 BBC Interview Is Once Again Making Global Headlines
According to UK commentator Piers Morgan, he stands with William in wanting a thorough BBC investigation into Bashir’s behavior. Sadly there is no one to be held accountable now for the way in which Diana recklessly fed the royals to the wolves and caused her young sons heartache and humiliation. Diana’s friend Simone Simmons told Vanity Fair that William was furious that Diana did the cringey interview and they had a huge fight over it. Other reports detail how William watched it at boarding school then cried afterward.
Piers Morgan Talked To Diana About Her Infamous Interview
According to Piers, Diana insisted to him that she had no regrets about revealing her adulterous affair with James Hewitt. But he thinks she may have just been unable to admit even to herself that the interview, in which she claimed Prince Charles was unfit to be king, was a huge blunder.
Martin Bashir’s interview turned him into a global media superstar and he went on to land interviews with A-listers like Michael Jackson. But jaw-dropping claims have emerged about how he convinced Diana to talk. A growing scandal implies that Bashir and the BBC then carried out a huge cover-up over what may ultimately turn out to be criminal behavior.
Did Martin Bashir Break The Law To Get A Princess Diana Interview?
Diana’s brother Earl Spencer claims that Bashir told her that, “her bodyguard was plotting against her, MI5 was following her, her friends were betraying her, and MI6 had taped Charles and his private secretary planning the ‘end game’ … Charles and nanny Tiggy Legge-Bourke went on a secret holiday together, that the heir to the throne was ‘in love’ with her, and even that Tiggy was pregnant with Charles’s child,” all in a bid to feed on her paranoia and get in her good graces.
BBC Director-General Tim Davie has ordered a new independent investigation into the scandal but Bashir, now the religion editor at the BBC, is refusing to answer any questions; according to the BBC, he is recovering from quadruple heart bypass surgery and Covid-19.
