Royal Family News: Prince Andrew Wanted To Be King, Plotted To Push Prince Charles Out?

British royal family news shows that right now Prince Andrew is up to his ears in controversy and scandal after being named in a civil suit accusing him of sexual assault. According to one royal watcher, egregious behavior is in “Randy Andy’s” playbook. Nigel Cawthorne told Sky News, “Well, certainly the Queen is sticking by him, she insists that he is kept on as Colonel-in-Chief of the Grenadier Guards, although many senior military people really don’t want that because he can’t appear in public very easily.”

Royal Family News – Prince Andrew is Being Sued

He can’t appear in public because he has been forbidden to represent the queen at royal events. Her reluctance to depose him as Colonel-in-Chief of the Grenadier Guards speaks perhaps to the notion that he is Her Majesty’s favorite child?

Adding fuel to the scandal fire, Bullen went on to basically accuse Andrew of potentially staging a coup against one of his brothers.

Royal Family News – Would Andrew Depose Charles?

Bullen added of Prince Andrew and his title as Colonel-in-Chief of the Grenadier Guards, “So he’s not much good in that role, but she’s stuck by that. There’s always been an antagonism between Charles and Andrew.”

According to Bullen the “antagonism” includes a controversial move on Andrew’s part. He said, “When Charles was very unpopular during the divorce from Princess Diana, he proposed a kind of ‘Palace Putsch’ where he would become regent until William was of age to take the throne.”

Royal Family News – Prince Charles Is The Heir

During the time of Prince Charles and Diana’s contentious divorce the public had a marked sympathy for the late Diana. She had gone on the BBC to complain of Charles having an affair with Camilla Parker Bowles who is now his second wife, and the public was scandalized. To be fair, Diana admitted to cheating on Charles as well.

Would Andrew have taken the opportunity to usurp Prince Charles during a time when his public image was in tatters? That is what Bullen seems to be suggesting although such a move did not occur.

For now Andrew has bigger concerns than one-upping his older brother. A London court ruled yesterday that it would aid in the effort to serve him court papers in the sexual assault case. To date Andrew himself has not been served, and some have claimed he is “hiding out” at various palaces and estates in an effort to avoid receiving papers.
