Royal Family News: Answers Demanded After Prince Charles Accepted €1Million In Cash From Qatari SheikBritish royal family news reveals that the monarchy has reportedly been rocked with scandal once again, this time at the hands of Prince Charles. Calls are being made for him now to explain how and why it apparently came to be that he was given a suitcase, “stuffed with €1 million in cash for his charity from a billionaire Qatari sheik.”

The controversial sheik reportedly gave the future king an equal amount on another occasion that time stuffed into bags from grocer Fortnum & Mason.

Royal Family News – Charles Must Answer Questions

According to the Daily Mail, “In total, Charles reportedly received €3 million in cash for the Prince of Wales Charity Foundation from Sheik Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jaber Al Thani, the former prime minister of Qatar, in payments made between 2011 and 2015.”

It’s been reported that the sheik himself gave €1 million in cash to the man who would be king during a meeting at Clarence House in 2015. It’s alleged that Charles immediately handed it off to aides who saw to it that the money was given to the charity.

Royal Family News – Charles In Charge

The sheik is not without controversy, and has said that, “under his premiership Qatar ‘maybe’ financed the Syrian branch of Al Qaeda without his knowledge.” He earned the nickname ‘the man who bought London’ after overseeing the purchase of Harrods, the Shard and the Olympic village.

According to The Sunday Times, the money given to Prince Charles was collected by the private bank Coutts, and deposited directly into the accounts of the Prince of Wales’s Charitable Fund.

There now is some dispute as to what Prince Charles did or did not do. “Accountants say that accepting cash in good faith constitutes a legitimate charitable donation. But the current royal gift policy says Family members must ‘never accept’ money but can accept ‘a cheque’ on behalf of a charity.”

Royal Family News – Is Charles in Trouble?

The outlet adds that while, “there is no suggestion that Charles or Mr Al Thani acted illegally, nor that the Prince offered anything in return for the generous donations, the episode has raised fresh questions over the Prince’s judgment and the wisdom of taking such large donations from a foreign billionaire.”

Prince Charles is in line to inherit the throne after his mother Queen Elizabeth and there are many who would like to see Charles’ son William leapfrog him into the big boy chair. It remains to be seen how the palace addresses this latest controversy.
