British royal family news reveals that Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall have joined with other VIPs in a charity video narration of ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas.

The royals were among a group that included Daniel Craig and Dame Judi Dench in an effort to raise awareness about the Actors’ Benevolent Fund (ABF). As is the case with many charities in 2020, the fund has received more requests for help this year than in the past.

The video also featured Tom Hardy, Dame Maggie Smith, Joanna Lumley, Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa, and the ABF’s president Dame Penelope Keith.

The all-important first lines of the poem were reserved for Prince Charles who readout, ”Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.”

Charles is the ABF’s patron and it was his idea to gather a group of actors for the reading when the charity asked for his help after Covid-19 made a major negative impact on the acting profession. Due to restrictive coronavirus protocols, theaters and movie houses are empty at Christmas, one of the busiest times of the year.

The prince and Camilla recorded their section of the poem at their London home, Clarence House. The entire video will be posted on Clarence House’s social media channels on Christmas Eve.

In April the ABF had to initiate the Emergency Grant Fund to help those experiencing financial hardship due to the pandemic. Prior to the pandemic the ABF mainly supported people of retirement age but this year they have been helping a large group of individuals aged 18-47.

Charles and Camilla have been supporting the arts and entertainment sector during the recent difficult period
In May, Charles vocalized his worry about how orchestras and theaters would survive the pandemic and during a tour of London’s 100 Club and Soho Theatre this month he said he was “praying” entertainment venues would be able to reopen soon.

Today the heir to the throne made a visit to hospital workers and met with members of the staff at the Tetbury hospital to thank them for their work during the pandemic.

The visit came after he appeared in a video for the Whiteley Homes Trust in Walton on the Thames in which he recognized staff and residents and said they could be, “truly proud,” of their accomplishments throughout the Covid-19 crisis.
