No, this time it wasn’t Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, instead it’s his dad Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall. What in the world have this normally staid couple done to provoke ire?

Apparently they broke royal protocol during their latest outing. And that was enough for many livid residents to call for a punishment just short of, “off with their heads!” Instead, locals angry with the pair are reportedly calling for the Prince of Wales to relinquish his claim to the throne over his faux pas. If you’re not familiar with it, this is a basement club where bands like the Sex Pistols, The Jam and Oasis have played. No only did the royal elder statesmen deign to set foot in such a place, they did something abominable once they were inside.

During the visit, the royal couple acted like teen sightseers, actually adding their John Hancock’s to the place’s famed wall of signatures! Off with their heads indeed.

Camilla and Charles just committed a huge boo-boo that could cost them the throne?

Well, this is the thing to do if you are a musician playing there, but certainly not something a royal would do. Think that is harsh? Actually there is such a rule, and so the rebellious pair were in a breach of royal protocol.

Believe it or not, royals are not allowed to give out their signature because of the risk of forgery. This most unseemly act on their part feeds right into the hands of those who have launched a tirade of criticism at Charles and his wife in part due to their unseemly portrayal in Netflix’s series about the royal family, The Crown.

The most recent season was released in November and it features Charles’ marriage to the late Princess Diana as well as his adulterous affair with Camilla. This portrayal has led some to demand that Prince Charles abdicates and gives the throne to his son, Prince William.

Social media sentiment ran along the lines of: “He just needs to abdicate so we can get some young, fresh king and queen in the form of William and Kate. No one wants you or your side chick.” At least they didn’t demand off with their heads!
