British royal family news shows that one of Prince Charles’ former country homes is on the market—with a catch. The new owner should understand that he or she could have a royal visitor pop on by every now and then.
Royal Family News – The Home Comes With A Perk
Brimpts Mead Estate is the name of the place, and it is a home within Dartmoor National Park in Devon. Once upon a time Prince Charles was the owner. Nowadays it is back for sale for $6.7 million. But the buyer must beware: a special rule may be enforced.
It currently belongs to a British couple who bought the estate from the prince of Wales in 1993. The exact sum was not disclosed then the house changed hands. But what is known is that a covenant gives Prince Charles the right to continue to fish on the grounds, according to The Times.
That must be a pretty good fishing hole! The new owners need not be concerned about the odd unexpected drop in however as Prince Charles must provide 24 hours notice before showing up.
Royal Family News – Prince Charles Likes To Fish
The estate took 13 years to build (between 1893 and 1906). It boasts a six-bedroom main house, two bonus cottages and nine acres all within Dartmoor National Park.
According to the real estate agent Prince Charles never did indulge his fishing right, but who’s to say that won’t change in the future?
The property around the estate is currently owned by the Duchy of Cornwall which is administered by Charles. The Duchy was established 700 years ago by Edward III in order to provide funds for the heir to the throne and their children. The duchy has land in London plus more than 130,000 acres of land, including along the coast, in 23 counties of England and Wales.
