British royal family news reveals that when Prince Charles finally (fingers crossed) becomes the successor to his mom, Queen Elizabeth, he will do so with an intact resume of individual accomplishments. This includes a pioneering role as an environmentalist.
More recently his Earth Charter project serves to seal the deal on his accomplishments in this area.
Royal Family News – Prince Charles Was An Early Environmentalist
HeirPod host Omid Scobie said of his Earth Charter, “This is really a huge step for Charles, and what he considers to be really part of the final chapter of his legacy as an environmentalist. This journey began in the 70s and here we are in 2021, really starting out big,” Scobie said.
“To think about nature and the environment having rights and being taken seriously. I thought that was a great way to think about things, something we don’t always think about,” cohost Maggie Rulli agreed.
“It’s more than just something that’s nice, it’s a right that nature actually has. I never thought of it that way before,” she added.
Royal Family News – Prince Charles Wan An Early Environmentalist
The Prince of Wales is asking companies to join his “Terra Carta” (Earth Charter) as it works for a sustainable future. The aim is to raise £7.3 billion ($10 billion) to invest in nature ventures. Prince Charles presented his new initiative at the virtual One Planet Summit.
“If we consider the legacy of our generation, more than 800 years ago, Magna Carta inspired a belief in the fundamental rights and liberties of people,” he wrote in Terra Carta’s presentation. “As we strive to imagine the next 800 years of human progress, the fundamental rights and value of nature must represent a step-change in our ‘future of industry’ and ‘future of economy’ approach.”
Royal Family News – Prince Charles Has Introduced The Earth Charter
Charles has been an environmental advocate since the 1970s. He noted that he, “can only encourage, in particular, those in industry and finance to provide practical leadership to this common project, as only they are able to mobilize the innovation, scale and resources that are required to transform our global economy.”
Amy Nguyen is the founder and editor of the Sustainable & Social platform and she thinks, “it’s great to see this investment coalition led by Prince Charles. As nations race towards net zero the impact on biodiversity and ecosystems can sometimes be overshadowed by the focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions or solving plastic pollution.”
