Royal Family News: Prince Charles Won’t Let Oprah Pollute His Bond With Prince Harry

British royal family news shows that much has been made of Prince Charles giving a small (but positive) shout out to his younger son Prince Harry. It comes after Harry gave large, raucous, and rude shout outs to his father and the rest of the family throughout 2021.

What gives? Was the recognition a casual one-off, or part of a larger more calculated plan to rein in the wild runaway? Charles wrote an essay on climate change for Newsweek in which he praised Harry and future monarch Prince William in sharp contrast to Queen Elizabeth’s repeated snubs of the man-child. Is there a larger agenda at work than a father merely recognizing his son?

Royal expert Jack Royston, who just so happens to write for Newsweek, thinks the shout out was noteworthy. And he’s not alone. He told Marie Claire, “Prince Charles giving Prince Harry credit for his work on climate change shows he does not want Oprah to be the end of their relationship.” In case you’ve been under a rock since March 2020, google it.

He added, “A lot has happened between them and it must have been very hard for the Prince of Wales to hear some of the things his second son has been saying about him publicly. From ‘total neglect’ to ‘genetic pain’ to ‘my family literally cut me off financially,’ Harry gave his father both barrels in 2021,” Royston continues.

Royston sees Charles’ recognition as a conciliatory measure, saying, “However, the point when Charles becomes king is nearing. Such clear and public praise for Harry shows he wants to move past the acrimony and look to the future, not the past.” That sounds about right for Charles, a man acutely aware of public perception, the weight of the monarchy about to land on his shoulders. The question is, is someone as angry and dug in as Harry capable of moving on?

Charles, clearly, feels more comfortable ensuring his son gets the credit for the work he has done and is not forgotten, in spite of everything.”
