Royal Family News: Prince Edward Inherited This Crucial Skill Set From Prince Philip

British royal family news reveals that Queen Elizabeth’s youngest son, Prince Edward, has taken up the mantle of one very important family task once enjoyed by his late father Prince Philip. Philip passed away in April and for the first time in decades the royal family is spending summer vacation without him.

But apparently one key skill set is still in play at Balmoral where the royals gather each summer.

Edward’s wife, Sophie, Countess of Wessex told The Sunday Times Magazine that Andrew is quite the grillsman.

“He is very good at barbecues, and the children love those,” she said. “He takes our son fishing, does a lot of riding with our daughter — he is very engaged as a father.”

Royal Family News – Prince Philip Died In August

Edward’s father died at age 99 in April. He was the queen’s rock and Prince Harry paid him tribute after his death as, “master of the barbecue.”

After his passing, Princess Eugenie also referenced Prince Philip’s bbq skills writing, “I remember incinerating the sausages and you swooping in to save the day.”

According to the book Queen of the World by Robert Hardman, Philip would, “relish the prospect of setting up his barbecue in the unlikeliest spots — and cooking anything that took his fancy.”

Royal Family News – Philip Was a Grill Master

The Queen’s former equerry, Sir Robert Woodward, was quoted in the book as saying of Philip, “He’d lead ashore with all the barbecue kit and the Queen would come later with the salad supplies and all the side dishes.”

“He’s a brilliant and very innovative cook. If you produced any strange animal out of the sea, he’d prepare it and cook it. You shouldn’t be surprised if you ate an octopus.”

Royal Family News – Balmoral Is A Royal Gathering Place

One of the widely circulated pictured after Prince Philip’s death was one of him behind the grill. It was taken at Balmoral in 1972 and shows him intently peering at his grill, with his daughter Princess Anne watching with her hands on her hips, clearly enchanted at the goodies being cooked.

Today the scene at Balmoral is reportedly much more tense as the family allegedly gathers to hash out the controversy surrounding Prince Andrew. Last week an accuser brought a lawsuit against him, claiming he sexually abused her when she was a minor. Neither the family nor Andrew have issued an official comment on the matter.
