But this year one family’s happiness could be at risk. What may put a wrench in the plans of the Cambridge family? Let’s unpack how recent events could dampen the spirit of the year for Kate and William’s son Prince George, their oldest son.
Royal Family News – Prince George Is 8-Years Old
It’s being reported that George could face heartbreak this year as the UK’s tradition of Boxing Day is threatened, due to the coronavirus.
It is said that George and his father Prince William greatly enjoy the day after Christmas day, along with millions of people around the world. But the father-son duo don’t return gifts on boxing day, they participate in the family’s annual Boxing Day hunt.
The shoot was reportedly cancelled due to the colder than normal temperatures relating to fewer animal births. William the Duke of Cambridge is a passionate hunter. Somehow he also remains a steadfast advocate for animal conservation according to The Sun. If Boxing Day hunt is cancelled it will come after another significant royal family tradition was cancelled.
Royal Family News – The Cancelled An Important Lunch
This year the Royal Family has scrapped the Queen’s pre-Christmas family gathering at Windsor Castle. It is said that the cancellation has to do with the alarmingly increasing Omicron infection counts in the UK.
The word is that cancellation came due to an abundance of caution with the queen not wanting to put anyone at risk of enjoying the Christmas holiday. The 95-year-old Monarch hosts a lunch for her extended family, and dozens of relatives typically party with her, enjoying what has been described as a “feast.”
Royal Family News – The Queen Has Encountered Ill Health
This marks the second time in a row that Her Majesty has nixed the event due to the ongoing Covid pandemic which has plagued the world for an incredibly long time.
Etiquette expert and former royal butler Grant Harrold spills that, “With the royals, Christmas more than anything for the Queen is very much about having the family together.”
“Having that time with them all, spending time with the grandkids and the great-grandkids, and having that little tradition of the fun Christmas gifts with the afternoon tea. And then they have I suppose you’d call it a ‘Christmas dinner’ as they have a big dinner in the evening, but then the next day they have a lunch.”
