Royal Family News: Prince Harry Accepts Damages From Mail Publishers Over ‘Baseless’ Article

Prince HarryBritish royal family news divulges that Prince Harry Duke of Sussex has accepted a deal over claims he “turned his back” on the Royal Marines. The publishers of the Mail on Sunday and Mail Online issued an apology and rendered “substantial damages.”

Two articles published by the outlets reported that Prince Harry had not contacted the Marines after he deserted his role as a senior royal.

A lawyer for Harry called the allegation, “baseless, false and defamatory.”

Royal Family News – Prince Harry Was Derelict In His Duties?

Harry sued Associated Newspapers for libel over two articles published last October. They claimed he had, “not been in touch by phone, letter nor email since his last appearance as an honorary Marine,” in March.

The prince’s lawyer told the court that Harry had made, “repeated and concerted efforts” to support the Royal Marines. This presumably was done from the comfort of his new American mansion an ocean away.

Royal Family News – Did Prince Harry Reach Out?

His PR team claimed that he had been forced to step back from his roles but he willingly gave them up as a part of the Megxit deal he brokered. That deal was necessary to achieve his desire to move to the US and have “financial freedom.”

One military official clamed that a letter sent to the prince was not answered and Harry later responded that it must have gotten lost in the mail. So far it is not believed that the US Postal Service has responded to Harry’s implied dereliction of their own duty.

Royal Family News – Prince Harry Is Fighting Back

On Monday Harry’s lawyer Jenny Afia said Associated Newspapers had accepted the allegations were false, “albeit after considerable damage was already done.”

She added that Harry was, “proud to have served in the British armed forces for 10 years in Her Majesty’s name,” and, “has maintained active links with those forces ever since and will continue to do so in the future.”
“The duke’s commitment to the men and women who have put their lives on the line, to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country, and to military families, is steadfast and unquestionable,” said Ms Afia.
She went on, “For this reason, the baseless, false and defamatory stories published in the Mail on Sunday and on the website Mail Online constituted not only a personal attack upon the Duke’s character but also wrongly brought into question his service to this country.”
