Royal Family News: Prince Harry and Meghan File 10 Lawsuits in 3 Years, Litigious Much!

British royal family news shows that Prince Harry is on the cusp of the 10th lawsuit that he and/or his wife Meghan Markle have been involved in since 2019, the year after they married.

The Duke and Duchess of Excess have filed eight lawsuits between them, and Meghan has the sketchy honor of having filed a lawsuit against her own sister Samantha Markle.

According to Newsweek, Harry’s expected to launch the couple’s 10th lawsuit at the High Court in London soon. Here are a few of the couple’s legal lowlights.

The Markle’s Are Litigious

Most of the cases relate to the media, with Harry taking action against the British government because he thinks he deserves the same level of police protection in the UK as that given to Queen Elizabeth (and no one agrees with him).

Harry is also suing The Mail on Sunday for libel, as regards his police protection lawsuit. Because why not go for broke, right? This February the outlet stated that Harry tried to, “mislead and confuse the public,” about his Home Office litigation. In response Judge Matthew Nicklin ruled, “the coverage had a defamatory meaning, which the newspaper must now defend at the next stage of the action.”

This case is just one of three the Markle’s have filed between them against the tabloid and its publisher Associated Newspapers.

Prince Harry Demands Police Protection

The first legal foray against the publisher was at Meghan’s hand and involved the publication of tidbits of a letter she sent her father, Thomas Markle. The former Suitcase Carrier won the case after a three-year period of legal wrangling back and forth.

In America the litigious couple have filed one lawsuit, against paparazzi group X17. They claimed the outfit, “used a drone to photograph their son Archie in the summer of 2020. The toddler had played with his grandmother Doria Ragland on the private grounds of Tyler Perry’s Los Angeles mansion, where they were living at the time. The pictures were published in the German mass-market celebrity magazine Bunte.” X17 later apologized.

In another joint move, Harry and Meghan sued the U.K. and U.S., “arms of Splash News and Pictures at the High Court, in London.” In that case they argued that their privacy was invaded after images taken of Meghan with baby Archie were taken. “The U.K division settled out of court, while the U.S. arm was forced into Chapter 11 bankruptcy.”

Meghan Markle Sues Her Sister

Perhaps the most jaw dropping lawsuit to come from either Sussex is the one Meghan filed against her own sister, Samantha Markle. Meghan filed after Samantha accused Meghan of, “false and defamatory information published within Finding Freedom on August 11, 2020.” Her lawsuit claims that Meghan did not tell the truth when she claimed to be, “an only child,” who met Samantha only, “a handful of times,” among other items. Sadly, Meghan does not want Samantha to have her day in court, as “Meghan’s team is trying to get the case thrown out.”
