What was that time like? Exhilarating? Heady? After all they had announced their intention to break away from his family after accusing them of not “protecting” them enough, and after accusing palace aides of being “vipers” against them. Surely they would be like kids in a candy store, ones who have run away from home with literally millions of dollars to buy out the whole store. Their privilege and elite status made them welcome guests in other people’s mansions and they were pursued by the paparazzi as VIPs.

That sounds like an exciting and high-flying way of life to be living. And yet, Morton claims that it was a, “pretty dismal time,” for them. Apparently all of their privileged and promise, money and fame and now “freedom” from the meanies surrounding them wasn’t enough.

According to The Sun, Morton said, “You could see the trauma etched on their faces. They were barely on speaking terms with William and Charles. If Harry had a real regret, it was how he handled the announcement of stepping back.”

But he recently claimed that Harry and the Queen have also been talking, “more often than you would think.”
