Royal Family news reveals that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have adopted an “older, traumatized” beagle named Mamma Mia. Read on and we’ll tell you all about it.
Royal Family News – Sussexes Deemed Loving and Caring Adopters
Royal Family news reveals that, according to Vanity Fair, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex adopted the seven-year-old beagle names Mamma Mia from the non-profit Beagle Freedom Project. The lucky pup was rescued by the organization last month along with 4,000 beagles from a research facility in Virginia.
Shannon Keith, the animal rights attorney who oversees the Beagle Freedom Project reportedly told PEOPLE Magazine that she was impressed by the duke and duchess and the dedication they brought to the cause.
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are the most loving, sensitive, and caring adopters I have ever met!” she exclaimed. “We were so honored that they have been supporting Beagle Freedom Project and chose to adopt a dog who has been abused.”
Meghan Markle – Calls Rescue Personally
Keith went on to say that the royal couple went out of their way to adopt a rescue pup named Mia “who most would overlook because she is older, has health issues, and is traumatized by her past.” She said she was “so impressed” by their commitment to animal welfare.
“They have been following up letting us know how well Momma Mia is doing in her new, amazing home!” After being taken from the breeding plant the pup was transported to Maryland and then moved to the Beagle Freedom Project in San Fernando Valley, per the Los Angeles Times.
Keith reportedly said that the duchess had called her personally to start the adoption process, and the royal couple later paid an in-person visit to the rescue where they played with Momma Mia in the yard before deciding that she was the one for them.

Sussexes To The Rescue!
According to Page Six, the lab where the 4,000 dogs rescued along with Momma Mia were discovered was quickly shuttered for numerous animal-welfare violations. The Envigo plant which sold dogs for pharmaceutical and biotech research was reportedly keeping the animals in deplorable conditions.
Most, if not all, of the dogs were malnourished and kept in cages with feces and food waste. More than 300 dogs perished there between January and July of last year. Fortunately for Momma Mia, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle literally came to her rescue and now she is headed for a life of luxury, living out the rest of her days as the princess.
