At least, that’s what their statement is alluding to. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently refuted Queen Elizabeth’s statement on public service, signaling while they might not be happy with their decision, they are willing to move on, too. Harry and Meghan are making it pretty clear that they still plan on making a difference in the world, regardless if they are working members of the royal family or not. After Queen Elizabeth confirmed that the couple will not be returning to the royal family in a working capacity – while also stripping them from their patronages – Harry and Meghan released their own statement. In it, they pretty much hinted that they make a difference in the world and without the Queen’s help, too.

Buckingham Palace said that “in stepping away from the work of The Royal Family it is not possible to continue with the responsibilities and duties that come with a life of public service.”

Of course, it didn’t take very long for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to release their own statement, in which they said that the couple “remain committed to their duty and service to the U.K. and around the world, and have offered their continued support to the organizations they have represented regardless of official role. We can all live a life of service. Service is universal.”

Some royal critics say that by doing this, Harry and Meghan are proving that they plan on making an even bigger impact with their service and charitable work than what they already have been doing. With that said, a lot of royal fans can’t help but wonder if this means that it will be a very long time before both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will ever be in the same room again as the rest of the royal family.
