British Royal News – Did Prince Harry And Meghan Markle’s Statement Come Off As Too Harsh Towards Queen Elizabeth?
Just this past week it was announced that Harry and Meghan would not be returning to their royal duties and that they were also stripped from their patronages. While it’s no surprise that the couple are planning to stay in California and not return to London anytime soon, everyone was quite surprised that they would no longer have their patronages. But then again, there’s only so much work that one can do while living thousands of miles away from the United Kingdom.
After Queen Elizabeth confirmed that Harry and Meghan have no place back in the ‘firm’ but are still much loved members of the royal family, the Sussexes released a statement that some people believe sounded a bit too harsh. Their statement said that the pair “remain committed to their duty and service to the U.K. and around the world, and have offered their continued support to the organizations they have represented regardless of official role. We can all live a life of service. Service is universal.”
British Royal News – Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Have No Further Comments
Royal editor Chris Sharp suggested that the wording wasn’t pleasant at all. He said, “Normally with palace statements you had to dig down to find out what really happened but I don’t think you do here. It’s a pretty sharp way to end there. I think it rather suggests it wasn’t very pleasant at all. That jumped out at me as soon as I read it.”
So far Prince Harry and Meghan Markle themselves have not made any comments about the criticism, but it’s doubtful that they will.
