When they return from their self-imposed five month post-pregnancy leave they’ll find that the audience has left their seats and is not be coming back.

So says a royal watcher who has seen the train wreck unfold and now predict the inevitable consequence of trash talking Harry and Meghan burning their bridges—oblivion. Or maybe Meghan goes on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here and Harry lives out his days juggling his balls in the backyard. Same thing.

Royal expert Duncan Larcombe believes Harry and Meghan alone created the mess they find themselves in, starting with abandoning the royal family in a hail of angry words. They kept it up, clacking about their power to “impact” the world and desire to mold it in their image. Despite escaping the palace they cannot evade their own buffoonery thus everything they do and say has been mocked as hypocrisy and lampooned as vanity.

Their biography is titled Finding Freedom, an exaggerated reference to their mad dash from the palace and its evil-doers. But what have they done with their liberty and how have others responded?

By all accounts the two have managed to ostracize the A-listers they once courted and hoped to join. Meghan and Harry were noticeably absent from Barack Obama’s August birthday blowout and last week Meghan’s crude attempt at squashing freedom of speech was crushed.

GMB presenter Piers Morgan was dismissed from his job after Meghan complained that he disagreed with her. Reality and the adults in the room triumphed when UK broadcast watchdog Ofcom issued a statement saying in effect that it would be “chilling” if Meghan got her way and everyone who disagreed with her was punished for it.

And yet the vindictive Markle’s, bless their hearts, keep trying to win the world over. They are the ultimate kids in the candy aisle who scream louder when told no.

Last week Harry and his comb over croaked away at a GQ awards show (hardly the UN is it?) about the press and social media users spreading “misinformation” about Covid vaccines. Because he is now an epidemiologist?

That embarrassing performance came mere days after the Prince of Conservation flew round trip to Colorado on a private jet for a round of polo (but it was a fundraiser so that makes it ok).

What’s the verdict on Harry and Meghan’s denunciation of the crown and embrace of Hollywood? Duncan says, “If freedom is being able to say what you want, when you want, to whoever you choose to speak to, then Harry has found a degree of freedom. But if freedom is having good will behind you to live in peace, being able to live life as you want it or being at peace with the people you’ve rowed with, then freedom has not been achieved.”

“It’s backfired. Harry and Meghan seem to have totally isolated themselves – they’re more trapped than ever in this new life they’ve created.”
