Royal Family News – It’s Thought Sussexes Will Steal Media Spotlight from Working Royals
Though the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down from their royal positions two years ago in 2020, they have continued to garner media attention since that day. With the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations rapidly approaching, royal experts have been speculating whether the duke and duchess would even show up.
Of course, according to Express UK, the event will be a perfect opportunity for more publicity and now that it’s been confirmed that they will attend, it’s feared that they will steal the spotlight for royals who are actually putting in the time.
Royal Family News – Palace PR Holds Tight Leash on Duke and Duchess
Tominey told the Telegraph that working royals like Princess Anne and the Earl and Countess of Wessex, work as royals, every day, planting trees and unveiling plaques, etc., only to have the media turn all their attention to the Sussexes who presently have no role at all in the Monarchy.
She said that, of course, though the Palace PR has a short leash on the pair, there is nothing to stop the couple from “freelancing and doing their own thing” while visiting the UK. Tominey explained that no matter what they’re doing when they’re out and about with Lilibet and Archie, it’s going to generate publicity.
Royal Family News – Sussexes May Be Wanting Longer UK Stay
Last month the Sussexes were spotted by excited tourists while visiting Windsor Castle ahead of the Invictus Games. Their more frequent visits back to the UK have inspired their supporters to believe that they might soon mend things with other Royal family members.
Kinsey Schofield, of ToDiForDaily.com, told Express that the Sussexes must surely be eager to return to the UK and play roles as part-time royals. Indicating that the duke and duchess may be wanting to stay longer, Schofield said, “I think they would be willing to come back and live there for six months.”
She indicated that, because Harry has held onto Frogmore Cottage, it points to the likelihood that Harry and Meghan would be eager to go back and to explore that option.”
