British royal family news shows that there was a time when Queen Elizabeth had a bone to pick with a woman who is now a senior royal in good standing. Who was the unlucky lady at the center of the queen’s wrath? The answer may surprise you!
Camilla Angered The Queen
According to royal expert Tom Bower, Prince Charles’ second wife once found herself in disfavor with Her Majesty. The beef was so bad that the queen told her son she wanted, “nothing to do with,” Camilla. That was in the 1990s, and a lot has changed since then. Today Camilla is in line to be queen consort when Charles takes the throne, but there was a time when the nation scorned her after it was revealed she and Charles engaged in an extramarital affair.
Camilla is now the Duchess of Cornwall and was a highly visible presence at last week’s COP26 climate change summit in Glasgow. In October she was also front and center, along with Charles and the Cambridge’s at the premiere of the latest James Bond film.
Royal Family News – Camilla Has Come A Long Way
According to royal expert Howard Hodgson the queen “adores” Camilla, who married Charles in 2005. Before this however, “For years, both the Queen and her mother had refused to have anything to do with Charles’ mistress.” This sentiment was echoed by journalist Tom Bower who told the Daily Mail in 2018 that Camilla was once a persona non grata as far as the queen was concerned.
Princess Diana Did Not Like Camilla
Charles himself told interviewer Jonathan Dimbleby in 1994, that he and Camilla had an affair once he realized his marriage to Diana was, “irretrievably broken.”
He and Diana divorced in 1996, but it would take more than divorce papers to make Camilla welcome in The Firm. After Diana’s shocking death in a Paris car crash in 1997, Charles and Camilla were once again in the headlines, and not in a positive way. Charles was also growing impatient with his mother’s reluctance to accept Camilla.

According to Bower Charles confronted his mother at Balmoral in 1998 over the cold war. Details of that conversation are not part of the public record, but whatever Charles had to say may have been instrumental in the queen changing her opinion of Camilla as she reportedly once told Charles, “I want nothing to do with her!” Clearly that has changed and now there is another royal family member on the hot seat once occupied by Camilla—Prince Harry of Hollywood. Like the saying goes, the more things change, the more they stay the same.

It must be difficult having a queen for a granny. All these reported rules and traditions, some seem so ridiculous and unnecessary. The thing with the stockings and weighing family at Christmas! I get why some would want to stay home and not visit. However Megan and Harry have gone about it all the wrong way, so granny is an eccentric control freak, we get it but thats not justification to publicly tell lies and trash family. They would have gotten more public sympathy if the had kept to the truth and been polite and respectful to their family and Harry's country. They can't undo what they have done, they have been caught telling lies to serve their agenda and showed no compassion for their family when their grandfather was dying. They have just shown themselves to be callous people.
