British royal family news shows that Prince Harry and his former basic cable actress wife Meghan Markle snagged a Hollywood Critics Award nomination for the Netflix reality show all about them: Harry & Meghan. While that may be enough for some people, it apparently wasn’t good enough for the Markles who wanted an Emmy nomination. Nope. Not this year, likely never.
Now one royal expert is pouring salt in the wound by proclaiming that the little award nom they did get was nothing more than a “PR stunt.”
Royal Family News: The Markles Didn’t Get an Emmy Nom
The Hollywood Critics Awards granted Meghan Markle and Prince Harry a nomination in the Best Streaming Non-Fiction Series for their primadonna Netflix docuseries.
The Netflix documentary was released in December right before Harry’s nasty bio, Spare, debuted. Harry & Meghan is competing against Prehistoric Planet 2, Rainn Wilson and the Geography of Bliss, Rennervations, The 1619 Project, and The Reluctant Traveler with Eugene Levy.
Royal Family News: Harry and Meghan Emmy Snub
Royal expert Kinsley Schofield told Sky News Australia that the nomination is a “PR stunt. This is not even a televised awards show. What they wanted was the Emmy. According to reports, they are devastated they were not nominated for that beautiful statue.”
Could winning this award help Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in the entertainment industry?
Royal Family News: Harry & Meghan Not Emmy Nominated
Harry & Meghan the movie showed the couple kissing, making goo goo eyes at each other, and expressing their contempt for his family. Maybe it just isn’t Emmy-worthy?
Schofield said “I see everyone celebrating this [the nomination] internationally. However, the Hollywood Critics Association is plagued by scandal.”
According to her, females left the group “because they felt they were being mistreated. They call publicists before the awards show to say so-and-so will win, to ensure butts in seats.”
Maybe Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will fare better with the Netflix documentary titled Heart of Invictus due in August. They are also rumored to be making a “Great Expectations prequel titled Bad Manners that would focus on the character of Miss Havisham.” And Page Six claims that Harry will travel to Africa to work on a documentary for Netflix.” All of those sound Emmy-worthy, no?
