It comes at a time when they are in professional freefall, having been cut loose by Spotify, and subject to relentless rumors about trouble in paradise.

The pundits are weighing in on the Sussex’s latest move and here’s what you need to know.

Royal News: Harry And Meghan Buy Rights To Meet Me At The Lake

PR expert Mark Borkowski calls the move a “desperate and expensive attempt to try to resurrect their media careers.”

According to Borkowski the couple overpaid for the rights to make the book into a Netflix movie and noted the obvious: “They have zero track record in drama or producing anything of consequence.” They have produced lots of personal drama however, and successfully monetized it.

The PR guru told MailOnline that he thinks that the publisher of Harry’s memoir Spare had a hand in the deal because both books were published by Penguin Random House.

Other pundits have called attention to how Carley Fortune and her book, Meet Me At The Lake, has a lot in common with the couple.

She is a Meghan stan who described the book as a “love letter to Toronto” the place Meghan filmed the cable drama Suits.

The outlet adds that the book mirrors elements of the couple’s life, such as a plot where a character’s parent dies in a car crash, as well as themes of “mental health and post-natal depression.”

Borkowski told MailOnline that the couple desperately need to “resurrect their media careers after multiple deals collapsed and business interests flopped … They are so far off the radar.”

Borkowski added that this couple who have zero production experience need to do “something” after the last few scandal prone months that include an exaggerated “near catastrophic” NYC car chase. As he noted, if the book were an actual best-seller, why would the author give it to a couple known as “f****** grifters?”

By all appearances, the court of public opinion thinks that the traitors’ latest attempt to cleanse their trashy reps has gone bust. Tell us royal fans, will Harry and Meghan ever straighten up and fly right?
