British Royal family news Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex wants to raise his 2-year-old son Archie differently from how his father, Prince Charles, raised him. The Duke of Sussex, 36, revealed in an interview that his life as a prince was miserable and he had wished he wasn’t a prince in his 20s. Now as a father himself, he wants to protect his children from the same sad existence that he faced growing up.
Prince Harry Calls His Father Out for “Painful” Parenting
“Isn’t life about breaking the cycle?” the Duke of Sussex, who also served as a military pilot, explained on the Thursday, May 13, episode of Dax Shepard’s “Armchair Expert” podcast. “There’s no blame. I don’t think anyone should be pointing the finger and blaming anyone. Certainly, when it comes to parenting if I’ve experienced some form of pain and suffering because of the pain and suffering that perhaps my father or parents suffered. I’m gonna make sure I break that cycle so that I don’t pass it on.”
The royal, who recently decided to leave the Royal Family for a living an ocean away from home in America, noted that “a lot of genetic pain and suffering gets passed on anyway,” adding, “As parents, we should try and make sure we’re doing the most we can. Like, ‘That happened to me. I’m gonna make sure that doesn’t happen to you.’”
He also credited watching his father’s life as a guide in helping him to stray away from the “hard” childhood he endured.
“Suddenly, I started to piece it all together,” he told Shepard, 46, and his co-host, Monica Padman. “OK, so this is where he went to school. I know this about his life. I also know that it’s connected to his parents, so that means that he’s treating me the way that he was treated, which means how can we change that for my kids? Here I am. I now moved my whole family to the U.S. That wasn’t the plan. But sometimes you’ve got to make decisions and put your family first and mental health first.”
Prince Harry Advises People To Learn From Life
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced that they were stepping back as senior royals in January 2020, making their exit official in February the following year. After a brief stay in Canada, the couple later settled in Montecito, California with their now 2-year-old.
The Suits alum, Meghan Markle, is also pregnant with the couple’s first daughter, due to arrive this summer.
In March of this year, Harry and Meghan sat down with Oprah Winfrey, in an interview that revealed shocking details to the world, to discuss how life in the royal family drove them to leave, with Meghan citing that she faced periods of suicidal thoughts at the time.
Harry also encouraged the podcast listeners on Thursday to try and learn from life. “The universe is basically saying to you, ‘I’m gonna school you.’ What can you take from each of those moments?”

You sure did hit the nail on the head with that comment and I absolutely and totally agree with you 100%. Harry is a disgrace to the word compassion and grace…..and the BRF and mostly to HM who has served her country all her life…….Harry is a traitor to his country!
So Harry now finds his former royal life hideous and disgusting now that he and woke Meghan have left the UK. Fine, so raise your children differently and stay in the tinseltown area of exceeding privilege and money you continue to squeeze from your most hated RF and use of your cheap use of royal titles. Why don't you just got on quietly about your non-royal business as you profess to crave, stop using royal titles to make money as well as stop trashing and lying about the RF behaviors and treatment of you two. Your tabloid trash and victimhood is only serving to show your lack of class while their continued dedicated service to Britain and the Commonwealth shows their much higher characters, "never complain, never explain" motto keeps then miles out of the perpetual gutter filth in which you live. Do try to remember that there are official Fact-Checkers who very quickly found at least 17 bald-faced lies in Meghan's and your nasty interview with Oprah. You have exposed yourselves as manipulative liars in that joke of an interview that Megs obviously fed her loaded and stupid questions. Quit complain, stop using your horrible titles, refuse your children to be titled, remove you and your children's names from the line to the throne of a country you and your wife hate, and your children will never know, except for your sad hatred. None of you have any right to claim the throne of Britain or the Commonwealth after your abandonment and pure hatred expressed publicly.
No one can possibly know what a person has experienced in their lifetime so therefore no one can really comment on what they have endured. I wish the "haters" would go away and let Harry and Meghan live the life they want to as we all have the privilege of doing.

I mean you no disrespect, you are entitled to your opinion and I am happy to read your prospective. However can't you see that Harry is bringing the "haters" on himself with these constant and loaded dishonest interviews. All Harry had to do to live the private life he wanted was to keep his private family matters to himself. I for one had no problem with him living privately in Hollywood if that was better for him and his family. I would have been happy to see him doing lucrative Netflix deals and even genuine charity acts, so long as it was focusing on the charity and not on him and his self-pitying. Harry is his own worst enemy he's the one loading the bullet's for people to fire.
I will be very honest, I loved Diana and cried bitter tears when she was killed, I loved both her boys as I love my own children. But what a despicable spineless idiot Harry has become. I can't believe that they are allowed to keep their titles. It took Meghan to make him realize he was trapped? that he was depressed? So for those two reasons you trash your whole family? Have you two thought that the problems with family is from your own doing. How can it be possible for both sides of the family to be bad. Growing up fatherless, with a foreign mother with no family at all around, was the worst years of my life. You just discard yours like garbage Harry, I won't say a word about that ugly thing (inside and out) you married, she is not worth wasting my time on. You have been cloned into another "Wifey" sad really as you had the world at your feet. You could have done better, so much, much better than that thing. Chelsey Davey comes to mind and had your freedom and still have your family in your life. Archie and your daughter will judge you too one day, you can bet on it, only their judgement of you will be of a vile, hateful person and father and crappy mother who is not their real mother, it is common knowledge we're not stupid, we leave that to gullible you Harry. I know your mother must be crying tears in heaven to see what you have become, and how you have trashed your life, it is inexcusable. You are a despicable human being. So is that thing. But stupid can't be fixed.
It is amazing how hurtful Harry has become. I use to think, Harry was so kind and caring. If all the things that they said on the coming out on Oprah about the Royal Family, he has not learnt anything. He did not like the royal life, he left it. He should just move on. The queen is a strong woman but I am sure she is very hurt by her grandson's behavior.
