British royal family news reveals that when the announcement was made that Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex and Meghan Markle are quitting social media, forever, eyebrows shot up across the globe. Didn’t they just launch the mother of all social media monsters, Archewell?
Well it appears the news may have been a bit premature or even erroneous. At least that’s how Harry is spinning it in an interview with Fast Company. According to him, his followers shouldn’t break out the tissues just yet, he and Megs might come back online but first there needs to be changes. Careful Harry, that could sound awfully dictatorial and controlling to some.
Royal Family News – Prince Harry Is Over And Out
In his latest and newest accent, Harry told the outlet, “We will revisit social media when it feels right for us—perhaps when we see more meaningful commitments to change or reform—but right now we’ve thrown much of our energy into learning about this space and how we can help.”
Harry also corrected those who earlier this month stated that Harry and Megs have, “no plans” to use social media for their Archewell Foundation and that they are, “very unlikely” to use any personal accounts.
Royal Family News – Prince Harry Is All About
He told Fast Company, “ironically, we woke up one morning a couple of weeks ago to hear that a Rupert Murdoch newspaper said we were evidently quitting social media … we have no social media to quit, nor have we for the past 10 months.” Love how he threw competitor Rupert Murdoch under the bus!
He went on to intone, “The truth is, despite its well-documented ills, social media can offer a means of connecting and community, which are vital to us as human beings. We need to hear each other’s stories and be able to share our own. That’s part of the beauty of life.”
Lest we believe, as one royal watcher does, that he is an “airy fairy,” he added, “And don’t get me wrong; I’m not suggesting that a reform of the digital space will create a world that’s all rainbows and sunshine, because that’s not realistic, and that, too, isn’t life.”
“There can be disagreement, conversation, opposing points of view—as there should be, but never to the extent that violence is created, truth is mystified, and lives are jeopardized.”
By the way, Harry also claimed that the recent US Capitol riots, environmental degradation and dislike of Megs is all due to social media.

Controlling social media is a very interesting topic. It's as fascinating to me as the word democracy. It is almost impossible for democracy to be satisfied by two equally numbered opposing parties. There are always going to be people with opposing views feeling their democratic rights have not been met. Now for the sake of sanity I concede to the majority vote but others may not be able to agree with my resolution, and no, I'm not referring to recent American politics, it can be applied to many situations. So getting back to my point it's difficult to harness social media without damaging people's democratic rights. And what harm might be done. We only have to look back a few years in history where the powers that be wanted to control our thoughts on Jewish people, on black people if we had let ourselves be muted by those who think they should decide what we say, would we have made the progress we have today. I'm not against some media disciplines but it's not that straight forward.
